Soldiers from The Highlanders will receive new colours from the Duke of Edinburgh at RAF Kinloss later. 

What the fuck is that all about?  They are going to receive 'colours' from a Greek dwarf, who happens to be married to a German descendent, who is head of the British Establishment?

Now don't get me wrong.  I fully support our forces and I would be the first one throwing Molatov cocktails at the Hun, when and not if they go to war with us again.  It's being, rehearsed already.  But this bunch have been in Afghanistan.  It's only the feeble brained who still believe that they are there other than to support a gas pipeline.  Forget all this pish about the Taliban and helping the female population.  In 5 years time when we're not there any longer, the Taliban will be the flavour of the day again and Sharia law will be implemented.  Much like what is happening in Egypt at the moment.  How stupid are our politicians?

AFGHANISTAN GAS PIPELINE THAT OUR SOLDIERS ARE DYING FOR!

David Cameron led tributes to the armed forces who "made our country great" at a ceremony to mark the transfer of repatriations of fallen troops to a new RAF base.

The Prime Minister said "we cannot thank them enough" for their efforts and the sacrifices they make. 

That may be true.  I have nothing but admiration for the professionalism of our armed forces, however misguided their actions are, at times.  But then, that is down to their commanding officers and the politicians.  

I often wonder though if your average soldier marching through Afghanistan ever considers, exactly, why he is there?  When you go onto armed forces message boards, there is plenty of bitching about their role, so why then does someone join up?  I don't know, because I have never been in the military although of course my forebears have fought in World wars.  At one time in my earlier years before I had the possibility of exploring what actually is going on in the world, I might have gone 100% for the king and country shite.

Should we be in foreign countries now that we have 'discovered' the rest of the world and everyone in these countries like India, Pakistan and Australia, actually know who and where they are.  Well apart from the Australians, of course.  I personally believe that our armed forces should be deployed to defend Britain, not sent to Afghanistan to build gas piplines.  Don't believe me?  Just Google, Afghanistan, oil and gas and you'll be on the road to discovering the truth!

PARIS — France's President Nicolas Sarkozy warned on Wednesday that Iran's alleged attempts to build long-range missiles and nuclear weapons could lead unnamed countries to launch a pre-emptive attack.

"Its military nuclear and ballistic ambitions constitute a growing threat that may lead to a preventive attack against Iranian sites that would provoke a major crisis that France wants to avoid at all costs," he said.

Sarkozy did not say which country might launch such a strike, but it has been reported that Israel -- perhaps with US support -- has considered bombing Iranian nuclear sites if it believes Tehran is close to building a weapon.

The aircraft are vital to Nato operations in Afghanistan.

He added the Government had brought "reality" to the defence budget which can now deliver real equipment". (They were ordered initially by the Labour Government)

Only one problem there Liam.  The helicopters aren't due to be delivered until 2015, by which time we are supposed to be out of Afghanistan.  Is there something you're not telling us?  Or are you just a prick?  Or both?  Which is more likely.  Or maybe you think we are, pricks.   Which is even more likely than that!

Why are we spending £1 billion on military equipment to use in other countries that have fuck all to do with us anyway?

Ministers were branded 'heartless' last night for pension cuts that will cost retired servicemen and war widows hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Defence Secretary Liam Fox was blasted over the coalition Government's controversial decision to link all public-sector pensions and benefits to the Consumer Price Index instead of the higher Retail Price Index.

Changes introduced in the last Budget mean, for instance, that a 27-year-old corporal who lost both his legs in a bomb blast in Afghanistan would miss out on more than £500,000 over his lifetime.  And the 34-year-old wife of a staff sergeant killed in Afghanistan would lose almost £750,000 as a result of the changes.
So there you are.  Some poor deluded twat who was led to believe that joining the army and serving your country's interests, was 'being the best'.  Now here you are 5 years later, having lost both legs in an IED in Afghanistan, a war fought like all 'wars' not as you were led to believe to stop the Muslim hordes at the door but rather to serve the interests of big business in building a gas pipeline.
So, after all the pats on the back from your mates and their congratulations about your heroism, you begin to realise the reality of the situation.  Your legs are blown off, probably along with your bollocks.  Your chances of getting a bird or even sustaining your current relationship are slim in the extreme.  Are you going to get a job?  You doubt it, because all you were before was a brickie and what use is a brickie with no legs?  Are the calls from the army getting less frequent?  Of course, but they're very busy people.  But at least your country, who you nearly gave your life for, values you.  Oh, maybe not?  Would you do it all again?  Aye, that'll be fucking right!

TALIBAN FIGHTERS WORK FOR 9 MONTHS OF THE YEAR IN LONDON AS MINI-CAB DRIVERS!

British-based men of Afghan origin are spending months at a time in Afghanistan fighting Nato forces before returning to the UK. They also send money to the Taliban.

A Taliban fighter in Dhani-Ghorri in northern Afghanistan last month told the Guardian, he lived most of the time in east London, but came to Afghanistan for three months of the year for combat.

"I work as a minicab driver," said the man, who has the rank of a mid-level Taliban commander. "I make good money there [in the UK], you know. But these people are my friends and my family and it's my duty to come to fight the jihad with them."

They're working as FUCKING MINI-CAB DRIVERS!  What is wrong with this country?  Are we so riddled with immigrants, we can't weed out Taliban fighters.  Our troops are dying in that shithole for a gas pipeline and they're fighting insurgents with Birmingham accents.  One even had an Aston Villa tattoo!   Unbelievable!

NATO PAID SUBSTANTIAL SUM OF MONEY TO A GROCER WHO THEY THOUGHT WAS A TALIBAN LEADER!

Nato chiefs in Afghanistan have been severely embarrassed by a GROCER who fooled them into thinking he was a Taliban commander during secret peace negotiations.

Astonishingly, the ruse went on for two months, during which time the ‘contact’ was paid a substantial sum of money.

He was also flown on a British military plane to three meetings designed to end the insurrection.

Despite suspicions about his identity, nobody disputed his claim to be Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansour, one of the Taliban’s most senior leaders.

It was only months later – and after the handover of piles of cash to keep him coming back – that an old friend of Mr Mansour said they had the wrong man.

The impostor has not been seen since the alarm was raised, (no I fucking bet he hasn't)!

American officials have already given up hope that he was Mr Mansour, or even a member of the Taliban at all. 

They now believe he was nothing more than a grocer from the Pakistani city of Quetta.

WTF are we doing there?  The Americans have lost billions of dollars, that even accountants can't find, mind you that doesn't surprise me, most accountants couldn't find the hole in their arse.  The whole place seems to be awash with money.  We've gone in there with absolutely no forward planning and are now trying to buy our way out.


It would have been easier to pay the Taliban the money they wanted for the gas pipeline to cross Afghanistan in the first place, (Google gas pipeline and Afghanistan, for interesting results).  But, of course, that didn't suit our friends the bankers, because where there is strife, they can turn a dollar.  You've got to admire their money making skills.

WILL HISTORY GIVE BLAIR THE SAME STATURE AS THATCHER?

Will history treat Blair as kindly as Maggie Thatcher?  There are similarities.   They both took us into two wars,  For Thatchers part it was the Falklands and the first Gulf War.  Blair, Iraq and Afghanistan.  Although in Thatcher's case it was to engage aggression, Blair's were purely for oil.  Both fought terrorists.  Thatcher, the IRA, Blair, Al Qeada.  Both had scandals involving bent politicians, I.E. them all.  


There are differences too.  Blair resigned although he was nudged gently out.  Thatcher was axed by the men who she trusted.  Blair has used all his time since his retiral to enrich himself and his family.  Thatcher retired to private life having given her best to the country.  Blair's Government left us in financial disarray ultimately through loose regulation of the Banks.  Thatcher's Government understood the economy and left us with an economy in excellent shape.  Blair is hated by the right, Thatcher by the left.


But the main difference IMHO is, that Thatcher was a Stateswoman and Blair was a criminal.

I am in the middle of evaluating all the evidence and there seems to be so much it takes it out of the realm of CONSPIRACY THEORIES, IMHO.  However I'm sure most people who come on here have looked at the evidence for themselves and now even many Americans have their doubts as to what happened that fateful day.  One thing which is not in doubt, is that the Hawks in the U.S. administration and George Bush in particular,  had chance to finish, 'what his Pappy started' in Iraq and subsequently in Afghanistan.  Their is no doubt in my mind that due to prompting from the Zionists in Israel, Iran will be invaded.  Iran is no Iraq and the casualties on both sides will be enormous.


I just hope Nick doesn't end up with Clegg on his face!

Why is Afghanistan so important?
A glance at a map and a little knowledge of the region suggest that the real reasons for Western military involvement may be largely hidden.
Afghanistan is adjacent to Middle Eastern countries that are rich in oil and natural gas. And though Afghanistan may have little petroleum itself, it borders both Iran and Turkmenistan, countries with the second and third largest natural gas reserves in the world. (Russia is first.)
Turkmenistan is the country nobody talks about. Its huge reserves of natural gas can only get to market through pipelines.  The U.S. is pushing for "multiple oil and gas export routes." High-level Russian, Chinese and American delegations visit Turkmenistan frequently to discuss energy. The U.S. even has a special envoy for Eurasian energy diplomacy.
Pipelines are important today in the same way that railway building was important in the 19th century. They connect trading partners and influence the regional balance of power. Afghanistan is a strategic piece of real estate in the geopolitical struggle for power and dominance in the region.  Since the 1990s, Washington has promoted a natural gas pipeline south through Afghanistan and the TALIBAN have visited the US on many occassions to discuss it, (see link). The route would pass through Kandahar province.  The proposed pipeline is called TAPI, after the initials of the four participating countries (Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India).  The main player in TAPI, is the American oil giant, UNOCAL, (based in Bush land in Texas, funny that), which has a 54% share.  Afghan President Hamid Karzai worked briefly for UNOCAL, (now part of CHEVRON), when he was studying in the States.  Yes!  He's not just some fucker that's stepped out a tent! 
A very big game is underway, with geopolitics intruding everywhere.  With the U.S. surge underway and the British ambassador to Washington predicting a decades-long commitment, it's reasonable to ask: Why are the U.S. and NATO in Afghanistan?  Is it to 'free' the Afghans from the Taliban, (who BTW were 'freedom fighters' when the Russians invaded), or to once more sustain the US's oil and gas supplies?  I know which I believe!

The Bajaur Tribal Agency in northwest Pakistan continues to be a hotbed of militancy despite being officially declared a “conflict free zone” by the Pakistan Army. Bajaur Agency has been under Taliban control since May 2007. The Pakistani military launched its first anti-Taliban operation in the area in August 2008 and six months later claimed that the area had been cleared of militants. However, many militant organizations remained active in the area and continued their activities both in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

BRITISH TROOP MEDICAL LOGISTICS AT STRETCHING POINT

Military hospitals in Afghanistan and at home are under mounting pressure to cope with rising casualties in Helmand province, as the armed forces prepare to take part in a major offensive there, a spending watchdog said on Wednesday.


The National Audit Office (NAO) said the UK military hospital in Helmand, Camp Bastion, was operating at close to capacity and predicted it would come under more strain from wider use by Afghan forces as fighting escalated.  The report came as an estimated 4,000 British troops are set to take part in a major offensive against the Taliban in Helmand alongside U.S. and Afghan forces.

Excuse me for being thick again, but why is the NATIONAL AUDIT OFFICE, a SPENDING WATCHDOG, announcing that our medical backup for Troops is insufficient for their needs?  Surely that is the job of the Ministry of Defence to announce that and anyway were we not keeping that a SECRET FORM THE TALIBAN?  This whole was seems to be being run by A BUNCH OF AMATEURS!

p.s. if you're a Taliban reading this in a cave in Afghanistan, this may be a bluff, or a double bluff, or a double double bluff, or a double double double bluff.

BRITISH TROOPS TO BE IN AFGHANISTAN FOR AT LEAST FIVE YEARS

British troops will have to fight the Taleban for another five years, according to a leaked draft of the communiqué that will conclude the London conference on Afghanistan this week.  Participating governments are also expected to agree to bribes totalling hundreds of millions of pounds which will be paid to leading insurgents in the hope that they will stop fighting.

I understand that we are in Afghanistan as a first line of defense against MUSLIM EXTREMISTS.  But it seems to me that we and the Americans are participating more than other countries.

We spent £35 BILLION on defense every year.  That is nearly £700 for every man, woman and child in the UK.  Now the LABOUR AND TORY parties want to spend a further capital cost of £70BILLION on a new trident system, which we can't build without American parts and we can't fire in unless the American President gives us permission.  Is it only me that FINDS THAT A BIT PROFLIGATE?

Going back to Afghanistan, what happened to the EU army we heard so much about?  Where are the other NATO troops, like the ones from Germany who can't fight at night or the Italians who don't think those 'CAMOFLAGE FATIGUES' are suited to the Italian Male's style?  How much are the oil rich states like Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E. chipping in to the fund.  I'll bet you'll find it won't be a lot.

President Hamid Karzai has banned a key ingredient in the roadside bombs that have killed hundreds of British, American and NATO soldiers in his country.

The Afghan government  has outlawed the use of ammonium nitrate fertiliser, used by the Taliban in 90 per cent of improvised roadside explosives.  ABOUT TIME TOO!  If he wants to stop roadside bombs why don't he and his CORRUPT GOVERNMENT LIE DOWN ON TOP OF THEM.

Our "NEW" SNATCH TRUCK COSTS £600,000 EACH AND HAS ALREADY BEEN REJECTED BY THE AMERICANS BECAUSE IT DOES NOT GIVE PROTECTION FROM ROAD SIDE BOMBS.

The truck it is replacing "THE VECTOR" WAS IT'S REPLACEMENT UNTIL IT WAS FOUND TO BE TOTALLY HOPELESS. The first time ever that a vehicle WAS REPLACED BY THE VEHICLE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO REPLACE! AND WE BOUGHT 200 AT £500,000 EACH!

Our troops are having to buy privately, their own equipment like BOOTS.
