Are there any lessons to be learnt for Scotland in the Libyan affair?

Well Gaddafi was obviously a bastard, we all knew that.  But, when he came to power he got rid of the previous administration who were seen as even bigger bastards at the time.  Whilst the Libyans welcomed his military coup, in Scotland in 1707, when the Scottish people were sold down the river by their 'betters', the nobility, who only had their own interests at heart and had been bribed by English money to push Scotland towards the Union, there were public protests in the streets.  But times change.  They have changed in Libya as they also have in Scotland, although it is obviously a shorter time span in the Arab country.

Some would say of course that the Union has been good for Scotland.  Since 1707, the UK economy and Empire grew exponentially, thanks to the enslavement of the common people who worked in the mills and factories to produce the wealth which flowed from their efforts.  The common soldier, convinced that he was fighting for the defence of Britain died in their millions to conquer the lands of other peoples, although they would say they were 'explorers' who brought enlightenment to the heathen.  It seems to me that we have failed in many ways to civilise those heathens if some of the facts we are fed by a biased media are to be believed.  That being the case, the enlightenment would appear to have been for the benefit of the power brokers who really reaped the rewards and whose children rarely appear in foreign fields to be shot at and killed.  How many of our MPs and even more importantly the PTB, have sons fighting for an pipeline in Afghanistan?

It struck me tonight when I heard an article on the news at the  EBC, that said that the future of the Libyan people was ensured because they had huge supplies of oil, that there was a huge similarity with Scotland.  I'm not saying that we have had a 'mad-dog' in charge for the last 30 years, although some in Scotland might say that Maggie was of a similar ilk, but I do believe that the time has come for Scotland to go it's own way and take control of it's own affairs.  The Scottish Secretary, Michael Moore, said today, with Unionist pride in his voice, that an independent Scotland would have been unable to intervene in another Libyan, like the UK has over the last ten months.  He completely misses the point.  No one in Scotland, or at least very few, people think we should be interfering in another country's politics.  What about Saudi Arabia or Bahrain?  Why aren't we carpet bombing their leaders?  We all know the answer to that!

No, let's remain friends with England, we have a shared history of sorts, but many in England think we are a drain on their economy, although that has been proved to be false many times and after all we wouldn't want to outstay our welcome!

He also received a £10 bet from Gordon Brown, that he wouldn't be able to win an election.

SALMOND TELL AMERICAN SENATORS, "TO PUT UP OR SHUT THE FUCK UP"!

The Scottish First Minister, Alex Salmond, yesterday issued a stern admonishment to a US senator investigating the release of Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi. The US Senate Foreign Affairs Committee is investigating whether BP lobbied for his release to help get a $900m (£565m) oil exploration agreement with Libya off the ground.
In a terse letter to Senator Robert Menendez, Mr Salmond denied that Scotland had passed the buck on the release of Megrahi. He said: "You and some of your senatorial colleagues have suggested that the Scottish government have sought to pass responsibility to others for the release of Megrahi. That is simply not the case." He also refuted speculation that the motive for Megrahi's release was less than pure, saying: "Please do not ascribe to the Scottish government economic or commercial motives for this decision when there is no evidence whatsoever for such a claim."

BLAIR IS SECRET LIBYAN ADVISER!

Tony Blair was flown to Libya for secret talks with Colonel Gaddafi just days after denying he was an adviser to the dictator.
Mr Blair was 'entertained as a brother', a senior Libyan government source has revealed.  He told the D.L. that the former prime minister had offered Gaddafi, with whom he is on first-name terms, 'a great deal of invaluable advice'.  They discussed a wide range of international and domestic issues, including lucrative investment opportunities.  The meeting, in Tripoli last month, came shortly after Mr Blair's spokesman flatly denied that he had any 'formal or informal', 'paid or unpaid' advisory role to Gaddafi.
The revelation will heap pressure on Mr Blair - now a Middle East peace envoy - over his links to the Libyan regime and potential conflicts of interest between his public and private roles.

Tony Blair has become an adviser to Colonel Gaddafi, the Libyan dictator's son has sensationally claimed.  Saif al-Islam Gaddafi said the former prime minister has secured a consultancy role with a state fund that manages the country's £65billion of oil wealth and was a personal friend and had visited Libya many times.
Last night, families of the 270 Lockerbie victims accused Mr Blair of breaking bread with people who 'have blood on their hands'.

Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with ex PMs making a few bob when they leave office.  BUT THIS FUCKER BLAIR, is rubbing our faces in it.  Questions should be asked as to when he first made contact with these INTERNATIONAL PARIAHS.  If it was before he left office and he was setting up business deals with enemies of this country he should be arrested FOR TREASON OR AT THE VERY LEAST PAYOLA.  BTW, I don't remember JOHN MAJOR or MAGGIE acting in this way when they left office.  The difference is of course that they are honourable people.  THIS SCUMBAG IS NOT!

NOW THE TRUTH ABOUT MEGRAHI'S RELEASE IS MADE CLEAR!

Gordon Brown was under fresh pressure last night after shocking claims by Libya that the release of the Lockerbie bomber was linked explicitly to trade deals benefiting Britain.


Colonel Gaddafi's son Saif al-Islam said the case of Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi was discussed at every meeting between the then Prime Minister Tony Blair and the Libyan leader.

The trade claim will intensify demands for Mr Brown to come clean about exactly what contacts Britain had with the former pariah state before Megrahi was freed on compassionate grounds.


Speaking on Libyan television, Colonel Gaddafi's son said Mr Blair raised the Megrahi case repeatedly to smooth the way for British firms to tap into Libya's energy reserves. He told the Al Mutawassit channel: 'In all commercial contracts, for oil and gas with Britain, (Megrahi) was always on the negotiating table.'


Mr Gaddafi, who discussed the case with Business Secretary Lord Mandelson when they met in Corfu just weeks ago, hailed Megrahi's the release as a 'victory' for all Libyans.
