WHY DOES THE BBC HAVE ALL THESE CORRESPONDENTS?

Trapped Chile miner Rojas kneels to pray
BBC coverage of the Chile miners rescue has topped £100,000, threatening other events, says an internal corporation memo Photo D.L. Agency
The BBC has spent so heavily on its coverage of the Chilean miners rescue it is being forced to reduce its coverage of other major events, including next month's G20 summit in Seoul and the Oscars.
A memo written by the BBC's world news editor, Jon Williams, and sent to fellow executives, says the cost of reporting the rescue will exceed £100,000.
The BBC have sent 26 people to the Chile mine rescue.  Now I don't know what kind of accountants the BBC have but £100,000 will barely cover the airfares.  That doesn't include salaries, accommodation, salaries, expenses, lap dancing clubs, etc, etc.  Why do they need 26?  Pictures will be readily available from Chilean TV, which they could buy.  They can have some fucker in the newsroom explaining technical details if necessary.  SKY, I believe have sent three.  That's the difference between a profit making company and a state dinosaur.
Why does the BBC need all these correspondents anyway.  You watch the BBC news and the people they drag up as correspondents for this and that are incredible and there are new faces all the time.  Sometimes I sit fucking gobsmacked!
It's time there was root and branch surgery on the BBC.  I see that fucker Yentob is going two years early with a £350,000 pay-off.  How much do you want to bet that he'll be gone 6 months and the BBC will bge buying programmes off  his 'independent production company'.  Piece of shite!

They could have just said 'miners freed and all the families were pleased ( with a photo of a miner hugging his missus). I could have saved them a hundred grand !
Is it absolutely necessary to film every miner getting out of the capsule ? Miner 29 had a good looking missus so they could use that pic. Mostly growlers apart from her.
I hope the coked up beeboids don't venture near the edge of the hole. It's a long way down...

Aye you're right DL.

I've been watching Sky all the time and the coverage has been brilliant. The BBC I found less interesting.

Rivetter, They could have used that one of the guy who asked both his wife and his mistress to be there when he got up. I bet that was worth seeing!

Rosie, I've seen it once on the news on BBC tonight. Once you've seen one coming up, you've seen them all. Some moistened eyes from me, but then I always was a big softie. I even had a wee greet when Bambi's mother got killed!

I also thought that figure of £100k was ridiculously low DL what with executive air travel, fancy hotels, taxis, gourmet dining and rent-boys poorly disguised as 'interpreters and guides'

I wonder how many beeboids are in Madeira covering this wankfest of the vanities...

Banned, no there is no way £100k is feasible, half of these fuckers would be flying business class for a start. Now if they're selling the pictures to world TV and making a profit, that's fine, but the World's TV are there anyway.

Rivetter, fuck knows but they'll be plenty. The EU politicians have got us for mugs. Did you see that graph on that page that shows that the major expenditure in the EU goes mostly to France?

DL. Maybe I'm getting paranoid. If you or anyone else was underground for this length of time, you wouldn't come to the surface, fit enough to kick a ball, like one of them did. As well as this, everyone had immaculate short hair, was squeaky clean, and clean shaven. WTF was that about? I remember in 1999, when the Kosovan refugees walked miles, many barefoot, one particular woman caught my eye. As the camera panned to a multitude of feet, hers were clean, no blisters and had immaculate polished toe nails.

Stephen.

Stephen, I must admit it came as a bit of a surprise to me as well to see all the miners clean shaven and bright eyed and bushy tailed. They must be an incredibly brave people, because it would have given me the willies coming up in that rescue shaft, in fact I don't want to think about it too much even now, in case I have nightmares. To be fair, I think that once they had got a shaft down they had managed to get some gear down to them and the chamber they were holed up in was reasonably large. It must have been because one of them had the rest doing exercises. No wonder one of them contacted his wife and mistress, he must have been fed up being groped by hairy miners. Still, look at the overtime they'll be due.
