COUP A JOKE-BUT IF 6 CABINET MEMBERS DON'T SUPPORT YOU PM, WHY SHOULD WE?

Wednesday's failed coup against THE GREAT LEADER was a joke from beginning to end.

The Blogosphere and the MSM were awash with controversy, which I am glad to say I said was pish in several comments sections.  But what has become apparent is the OUR GORDY has had to do deals with several key members of his Cabinet in order to stay in power.  He is now a busted flush.

David Miliband, has now had four chances at challenging Brown and he has dithered each time until his only option was to back the PM in a non-committal kind of way.

Mr Miliband, whose relationship with the Premier has always been tense, was one of six Cabinet ministers named by the BBC who the plotters believed would have been prepared to move to oust Mr Brown in the right circumstances.  The others were Miss Harman, Mr Straw, International Development Secretary Douglas Alexander, Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth and Scottish Secretary Jim Murphy.  Several ministers took hours to offer the Prime Minister only equivocal backing as the crisis deepened. It was some seven hours after the news of the botched putsch emerged before Mr Miliband spoke out, making no mention of Mr Brown's leadership.

So I pose the question in my title, if half the Cabinet doesn't support you, Mr Brown, why should the country?  Surely the TORIES and the SNP must hammer this split for all it is worth!

Banned, he's got nowhere to go. His only chamce now is to hope ther economy improves and he gets a win in May or whenever he decides he's going to face Cameron. I'll tell you one thing though, much as I hate the twat, I'd prefer him to Millipede.

I suspect that Brown said something like: “Hoon and that other patronising cunt Hewitt? Is that the best you can do?” Coup over.

Brown deliberately surrounded himself with spineless half wits in the cabinet - nay, quarter wits - and now we know why. Talk about not being able to organise a piss up in a brewery.

Fred, you're right but you have to admire him for still being there after all these Blairite plots. I just hope he doesn't start to get a sympathy vote from the electorate. Cameron is starting to show his weaknesses and that twat Osbourne is one of them. Bring back old hush puppies as Shadow Chancellor, he'll sort this mess out.

DL, you are bang on the money. I have met Ken Clarke several times and whilst he is a bit of a leftie for my liking, he is a real big hitter and could make mincemeat of Darling at the Despatch Box given the opportunity. He also has the experience of quickly getting a deficit under control. Boy George is as out of his depth as the great eyebrowed one.

Cameron is clearly being loyal to his friend, but if you want to be PM, you have to have a ruthless streak, which means dumping your friends in the national interest when they have been found to be lacking. This lack of backbone worries me.

Fred, your dead right. Great PMs like Maggie wouldn't have put up with Boy George for a second but then she didn't get up to some jolly funny pranks with him at the Bullingham Club. Fuck me. They want to get rid of Cameron while they are at it. He's hoplesss as well. Trouble is after being 13 years in opposition, they have no-ne with credible experience apart from ex-Major/Thatcherites. WShat's Major doing now, get him back. Anyone that was shagging Currie is ok in my eyes!

Spot on Dl.But Hoon and Hewitt?? What a couple of useless twats they were.Hewitt was an evil bitch as minister of health, and Hoon was a Cloown at the MoD ( in fact, that fucker's got his fair share of blood on his hands too ).As for millipede, has he come out from behind his sofa yet?Probably waiting for Mummy to bring him a nice cup of warm milk and a rusk to take bedbyes.Bless.

Ansel, I couldn't disagree with anything you say. Hoon even became an expression for an idiot, didn't he? I don't remember much about Hewitt, so she must have kept her head low. Miliband is the never never man. He's missed his chance and Brown will make sure that Balls succeeds him.
