INCAPACITY BENEFIT CLAIMS HAVE STAYED THE SAME SINCE 1979

The number of claims for Incapacity Benefit have stayed the same since 1997, making a fool of the Coalition's case that Incapacity Benefit is out of control.  The biggest rise was actually under the Tory Governments of Margaret Thatcher and John Major, when it rose nearly 350%!

WILL HISTORY GIVE BLAIR THE SAME STATURE AS THATCHER?

Will history treat Blair as kindly as Maggie Thatcher?  There are similarities.   They both took us into two wars,  For Thatchers part it was the Falklands and the first Gulf War.  Blair, Iraq and Afghanistan.  Although in Thatcher's case it was to engage aggression, Blair's were purely for oil.  Both fought terrorists.  Thatcher, the IRA, Blair, Al Qeada.  Both had scandals involving bent politicians, I.E. them all.  


There are differences too.  Blair resigned although he was nudged gently out.  Thatcher was axed by the men who she trusted.  Blair has used all his time since his retiral to enrich himself and his family.  Thatcher retired to private life having given her best to the country.  Blair's Government left us in financial disarray ultimately through loose regulation of the Banks.  Thatcher's Government understood the economy and left us with an economy in excellent shape.  Blair is hated by the right, Thatcher by the left.


But the main difference IMHO is, that Thatcher was a Stateswoman and Blair was a criminal.

Isn't it brilliant when you kick the bucket, particularly in politics.  The tributes are flowing in for MICHAEL FOOT, who as everyone now knows died today at 96.

I was around when FOOT was at the top of the Labour Party and he was weak willed and dittery, a radical ex-communist who put the Labour party back by 20 years.  The STUPID TWAT that is Jim Murphy, who when interviewed on the BBC, Politics Scotland programme, which turned into a Labour rant, when he wasn't trying to take digs at the SNP, described FOOT as a person who 'brought the Labour Party together'.  Well, FOOT was the direct cause of the 'GANG OF FOUR' splitting from the Labour Party and starting the SDP.

FOOT tried to appease an increasingly radical TRADE UNION MOVEMENT and in doing so only gave Margaret THATCHER the excuse to decimate the COAL, STEEL AND NEWSPAPER  INDUSTRY in the UK.  (Not that it wasn't in need of decimation BTW).  

At the time he was seen as HOPELESS BASTARD.  So please, let's not have any ELEVATION OF FOOT as some great Leader.  He will always be remembered as the OLD DUFFER in the DONKEY JACKET who had to be shown what to do at the Cenotaph by Margaret Thatcher.

MAGGIE THATCHER. Do you love her or hate her? I know in Scotland she is mostly a figure of hate. But why?

When she came in the country was in some fucking state. Believe me I was living at the time, not getting the story from my parents. The Unions ruled the country, we had been to the IMF to bail us out, (could happen again!), the dead went unburied, the rubbish piled up in the streets, we had had a 3 day week to save energy, I remember being at a Airdrie-Ayr game on a Wednesday afternoon because floodlights couldn't be used and the Argies thought they could Nick a British territory because we were too weak to stop it happening.

But Maggie sorted all this and lots more.

OK, in Scotland, the miners got fucked thanks to their stupid Union bosses picking a fight when the stockpiles of coal were enormous and Ravenscraig which was uneconomic got shut down. Both of these cost us the taxpayers a fortune in subsidies.

Contrary to today's cries, the Poll Tax was not foisted on Scotland as an experiment. The Council rates in Scotland were much higher than in England and the country was crying out for some financial relief. I had a friend in England whose house was three times the size of mine and he was paying only half what I was in rates.

Love her or not she is the only ISM and we are all THATCHER'S CHILDREN, including the Liebour party.

I KNOW WHO HISTORY WILL SAY DID MORE FOR THE BRITISH/SCOTTISH ECONOMY AND IT WON'T BE BLIAR/BROON!
