WHY SHOULD PEOPLE DO COMPUSLORY WORK?

I'm almost ashamed at writing this.  But here goes:

According to the Maily Dale,

  • Work-shy benefit claimants will be forced to do compulsory work in exchange for welfare under radical rules imposed in Parliament today.
  •  The unemployed could be instructed to do ‘Mandatory Work Activity’ under a controversial new programme outlined by Work and Pensions Minister Chris Grayling.
  • It is thought that they will have to pick up litter, mend fences or help repaint care homes.
  • Jobseekers would have to spend up to 30 hours a week, for a month, on their work placement and would still have to look for work in between.
When I say almost ashamed it's for this reason.  Like everyone else, I would hope my taxes are not being squandered paying for some bastard to sit on their arse watching the TV.  That's the first reaction.

But then you think.  Hold on a minute.  They are the ones, according to certain people who claim to know about these things, that are causing the unemployment in the first place, by cutting too deep.  So, if they get away with this, where does it stop?  Do all the unemployed getting, £65 per week have to work a 30 hour week?  I thought we had a minimum wage?  What happens to all the peoples' jobs, who currently do the painting, mending fences and picking up litter?  Do they become unemployed and then have to do the same job for a third of the money?  Do we just become slaves?

Fine you say.  I'm not a painter.  Is a case of, first they come for the jobs of the painters, then it's the shop assistants, factory workers, waiters, van drivers?  Where the fuck does it stop?  Bosses, will take all the cheap labour you can give them... I know, I was one and run a substantial business.

Do you know where it will stop?  With the jobs of the politicians, their families and the elite.  So remember that when some van driver tells you, what a good job the coalition are doing, getting the unemployed back to work and off benefits!

They did something like that here in Ontario in the 90's under a conservative government. Not only did folks on welfare have to do job placements they also had their welfare cut by 23%. Now I'm all for getting folks out into their communities, becoming active, and contributing. But that lot did it out of spite and malice. Their intent wasn't to help these folks into work but to punish them for being unemployed.

The reality of the modern world is that we don't need everyone to work. Our systems of production, transport, and retail are designed to need less and less workers every year. In addition, production jobs that can't be rationalized into redundancy or eliminated through automation have been transferred to China and India. Transport jobs likewise have been transferred to lower paying economies. Here in North America Mexicans have been taking over the trucking industry which is allowed under NAFTA. Then there's the retail and service jobs which are going to illegals.

The West's economy is in the service of international capital and they don't give a flying fuck for any nation or people. They need the unemployed as a consumer army and they want those that are still working to subsidize their - the unemployed's - consumption. More people working leads to inventory recessions and in a system that requires continual and exponential growth that's suicide.

The only problem that international capital has at the moment is what to do with all the cash? They tried the Ponzi derivative scheme - that helped consolidate their control over national economies - but what now? What do you do in a system when everything is never enough?

Regional drama like "mandatory work activity" is just stalling until they get their next cunning plan into action. North Africa? Euromed? It's all coming together nicely.

If they really wanted to reduce unemployment, it would be better, real, education and training, no benefits for the workshy and, most importantly; foreigners out.

I agree about the NAFTA thing, perhaps Harold Covington has a solution, albeit a radical one, to that problem.

McGonners, that is a very interesting comment and I agree with everything you say. Although obviously I am not in Canada, I can see the same situation being mirrored here with the wage slaves earning less and less and consuming more and more to keep the Globalists happy. Up until a couple of years ago, I wasn't aware what all this anti-globalist demonstration was all about at the G8 summits and such. I fully understand now and I, like you, are convinced that the great plan is coming to fruition because the politicians are being bought off one by one, while the populace sit watching the shite from the box in the corner. The next pish we will get will be the Royal wedding, when all the Royal sycophants will be cheering the 'lovely couple' whose family are at the top of the system that is subjugating them.

Gordo, Hi. No benefits for the workshy? Perhaps they should be forced to do voluntary work, but then what would you do with all the sad old women who fill their day working for charities? Are they out of a job as a feckless bunch of wankers take over? Foreigners out? I would certainly make immigration much, much harder. The third world want what we've got but don't have the right mentality in many cases to appreciate it.

Gordo, your man Covington certainly seems to have some radical solutions. I must look further into his propaganda as some of it seems sensible to me.

We have all seen this here in Scotland; young fit men who don't work, sod all wrong with them, tell you with a nod and a wink that "I get nervous" or "I have a fast metabolism" and are claiming disability. I work so why should I pay for their houses and fuel and council taxes, their childrens education etcetera? I mean its not like they've lost an arm or anything, they just don't want to work!

Gordo, I take your point, but what are they going to do. There are no jobs. The only way they can work is either in the voluntary sector, in which case they take the jobs of old dearies who want to get out the house and get some companionship because their old man or the cat has died, or they take the jobs of the un and semi skilled, like I have outlined above. That's the whole point. There are no jobs for them to do. Take away their benefits, which I'll admit is attractive and their kids will starve and they will thieve to survive. I know I would.

Force the idle layabout cunts into proper jobs like Investment Banking, Lifestyle Management and Property Portfolio Gurus.

There are jobs! foreigners are doing them. Send them home and get our layabouts a bit of pride, self-respect and self-sufficiency by means of a job. Also start educating and training kids for the real world out there with sane sensible teachers. If investment bankers are a problem (I agree they are) then start adjusting the tax system to favour manufacturing like it does in Germany, not money juggling like it does here, we can do without the trickle down effect to cocaine dealers and rent boys that merchant bankers and BBC types provide.

Its just another part of the "big society" Dl. Next thing to do is re-introduce the workhouses. Don't worry about the kids, they will never be caught working in mines again, but only because there are no mines left anymore.
There may indeed be an exodus of Poles leaving the country, because what self-respecting Pole would try and match the 65 quid a week British workers will be paid? The tories were dead-set against the minimum wage and now found an excellent way to bypass it as they can be seen to be proactive against the scroungers. There may be a few janitors and painters who regret saying, "If I was unemployed I'd take a job, no matter what it was".

Banned, you're right. Something you only have to work at for 5 hours a day with long lunches and plenty of bevvy and the chance to stare at a computer screen all day.

Gordo, are you sure you haven't been on here under an alias. You're talking sense. It is time we stopped sending 50% of our School leavers to Uni. In my day and I was quite bright with 7 A levels or Highers as we call them here, I only got an acceptance from Stirling to do economic history. Teach them apprenticeships like plumbing or joinery, but make it a shorter time. Who the fuck needs 5 years to be a plumber, ridiculous! Most of the fuckers won't go near a boiler anyway.

Antonio, that's all it is, just another way of creating a lesser paid wage slave. I was employing during Labour before Thatcher and most of their wages were paid for 6 months. The occasional one got a full time job, but most were laid off and someone else taken on in their place.
