SHOULD ANDY MURRAY BOW TO THE QUEEN AT WIMBLEDON?

Andy Murray is still dithering about one aspect of his Wimbledon strategy - whether to bow to the Queen.
The 'crabbit bastard' Scot says he hasn't quite decided how to acknowledge Her Majesty's first visit to the All England Club in 33 years.  His comments are casting a cloud over the tournament even before it gets underway today, and they set him apart from a raft of top players who said they would be delighted to bow or curtsy to the Royal Box on Centre Court.

Personally I think the decision should be up to him.  Would I?  I'm not sure.  I come from a family where my father stood up for 'God Save the Queen' when it used to be played at the end of that night's TV transmission, into the 70s I think.  I don't really feel that the Queen is my monarch.  The Royals have chosen to live in England since the reign of James the Sixth, that's the First to you English persons.  I don't believe the royals sojourn up here for the Braemar Highland Games in September, trailing Charles and 'horse-face' with them, who then insist in dressing up like something off a shortbread tin, is honouring their commitment to being Scottish monarchs.

I really don't believe in the whole set-up anyway.  Why do they need all these Royal residences.  Fuck me, there's literally hundreds of them.  What are they doing in these times of economic downturn?  How much less money is the Queen taking from the public purse this year?  Is she going to spend some of her own money?  What the fuck do we need her for anyway?  To dress up a couple of times a year and read out a prepared statement at the opening of Parliament?
No, all in all, I think I might nod in her direction but although I admire her personally, albeit not the rest of her tribe, I DON'T THINK I WOULD BE BOWING.

I guess that by bowing you are acknowledging that the Queen is a superior being to you.

If Andy believes that he is inferior to HM then he should bow; if he does not then he should not bow.

But then there's the social side to it. People from all over play in this English thing at Wimbledon, and in the past when other royals have been there they have all bowed.

Maybe Andy won't want to feel the odd man out?

Actually, I don't know and I don't care.

LOL... Good post though... LOL @ Horse Face, what a bloody insult to a horse.

I'd bow if I was him. 2 secs of humiliation and forelock tugging will set him on the road to OBE's etc.
Kiss royal ass and it will look after you until you die. It won't respect you but it will see you alright.
It tortures and murders people it respects. Sir William Wallace, Dr David Kelly, Robin Cook etc..
But for a gutless easy life Andy should kiss the royal ass and enjoy the money that will flow is way.

As the Head of State HRH is the embodies the concept of the UK- she is the UK incarnate - and as such to bow to her is to bow to the concept of the UK. As a Scot I couldn't do that.

No way should he bow to the queen, as a finely highly strung athlete he could twinge a nerve and then we will have to listen to all the hasbeen tennis losing fuckwits giving their views on whether he will last the next set. Everyone knows the BBC are anti royalists so if he did injure his spinal column mid bow them she would get a lot of leftwing multiculti positive discrimanation grief over it.

Titty, he'll probably go down that route. Win some tennis tournament that in the scheme of things doesn't matter a fuck and you are feted because the English see it as the be all. Knighthoods will flow in time, which is pish IMO!

Andy, Well said. We'll be watching!

Bugger, I'm glad you agree. I think deep down we would all kinda like to be Knights and even Lords but that would be becoming part of the institution of the Monarchy from whence 'power and title' flows down to us mere mortals.

Sarge Pepperoni, you make a very valid point about injuring himself. He could damage the Marsuprial in his back, the same one that Rooney damages in his mouth everytime he opens it.

No one should bow to anyone.

Anonymous, I would tend to agree, but it's really down to him. Gonna make up a name next time. You re very welcome to comment like other people do without taking a google name.

Sophes, a curtsey would be fine but what aboot the boy's piles. It's difficult enough playing tennes with a touch of the Farmers without curtseying.

I think that the dour faced prick should shut his petulant mouth until he at least wins a grand slam!

And if I was his manager/coach I would be kicking lumps out of him for his comments. Stick to playing tennis!

Rab, "I think that the dour faced prick"-How dare you talk about Scotland's greatest ever athlete in those terms! I suppose if he came from Kilmarnock he would be praised for being the Town's top 'cokeheid' or if he was a woman he would be lauded for having 10 illegitimate weans by 13 different men. Then he would deserve praise, because that's no easy!
