A GREEK EURO YESTERDAY!
BRITISH taxpayers could be forced to pay up to £3.5billion a year towards bailing out the crisis-hit Greek economy, it emerged last night.
European Union chiefs were yesterday discussing plans for all member states to contribute towards a financial rescue. The relief package would be designed to ease Greece’s colossal debt burden and save the troubled euro single currency. German President Angela Merkel is to press for all EU states, including Britain, to be ready to provide billions of pounds in emergency debt aid. A £3.5billion contribution would be equivalent to putting an extra penny on the basic rate of income tax. It could cost the average household more than £140 a year.
Was it not our staying out of the EURO which meant that we wouldn't get involved in it's workings? What do we get in return? A year's supply of Metaxa Brandy? Some Ouzo? Some Olives? Or what about some of those little Greek Islands and we Brits could all get cheap hols. NO? I DIDN'T THINK SO. TELL THEM TO FUCK OFF, WE PAY ENOUGH AS IT IS SINCE BLAIR HANDED BACK OUR REBATE!

I'm going ot try UKIP this election. All the other parties are pro EU so they're the only choice unfortunately.
UKIP, if I lived in England and I didn't have the SNP, I would be voting UKIP as well. There's no difference between the Tories and Labour on the main issues and that's a shame. The Tories are so frightened of veering away from what they maintain is the 'middle ground' that they are handing the election to Labour.
I couldn't vote SNP. Their support for the global warming agm scam (with massive pylons everywhere),the EU, mass immigration etc would put me off. Supporting benefit fraudsters and Islamfests is a non starter for me aswell.
Plus of course their attacks on the poor with minimum drink prices and non smoking pubs.
Sounds like you will end up with a nanny stated, multicultural, PC socialist republic if you're not careful DL.
Talking about the global warming scam I see we bought another £60m of thin air today.( 15% tax free commission to the agent - not bad )in carbon credits.
Good to see we can afford to waste money while OAP's freeze to death afraid to switch on another electric bar on their fire.

What does Greece actually do?
What have they contributed in the last, say, 1000 years?
Yep, fuck all and that is exactly what we should be giving them.
And they have the cheek to complain about good Scots Lord Elgins honestly come by marbles - he paid good English pounds for them.
Maybe they sould sell us the entire Parthenon and have done with it; or we could take it as security for a mortgage.
UKippers, I can understand your points but I would counter with the following. With the SNP is not just a GW scam but they see renwables as a huge industry for Scotland as we have 25% of all European renewable potential. Now to get a renewables industry which could easily support 10,000 jobs you have to buy into Global Warming to some degree. But even if like me, you don't but kind of think that it is better to have a belt and braces position, could do with cheaper power and am not all that keen on having a nuclear reactor on my doorstep, if it creates jobs and more wealth for my country, that's fine. Admittedly pylons are not that nice and yes some parts could be buried but there are pylons there at the moment which if you've ever tried to drive down the A9 and get FM radio you will be aware of. It is unfortunately a fact of life that you have to connect the renewable wind and wave power from the North of Scotland to the National Grid. Although if we were independent we could export it direct to the continent because Scotland is just about self-sufficient currently in power. Their support for the EU is I agree worrying but I hope the argument can be made in time that we would be better outside of it. One thing at a time. Scotland's population is dropping so it is an unfortunate fact of life that we have to attract immigrants here hopefully from England or Europe to help us create wealth in an independent country. The SNP don't support benefit fraudsters. The man is a criminal and if you read the letter she sent to the court although ill-judged it is a stock letter for a constituent. Megrahi's release was as is still the right decision in my estimation for a civilised country. Once you get worse than them, where does it stop. That's why I don't condone torture. Scotland is the country with the worst health record in the civilised Western world. I applaud the smoking ban. At least I can go to the pub now and not come home smelling like an ashtray with my lungs coated in tar and my heart affected. I did not stop 3 or 4 times for my own health for some other fucker to affect it. Drink. I have blogged long and hard on this subject and I'm not going to go over old ground. Suffice to say that as someone who has badly abused drink all his life, I believe it is a step in the right direction. When was the last time you were in Glasgow on a Friday or Saturday night and witnessed the states of kids who can't hold their drink. All the evidence is that they are getting tanked up on cheap supermarket booze before they go out which mixed with the drugs sends them loopy. I was watching a TV prog on BBC Scotland tonight and do you know that Scots have the highest Cocaine use in Europe. Just the COCAINE market in ABERDEEN is £50 million a year. What is it about the Scots that they want to commit suicide? You're twenty times more likely to take a heart attack if you sniff cocaine and it mixes socially brilliantly with drink although it produces a toxin which your body can't break down, hence the problem. It is purely because our OAPs are freezing to death I want to rip up the old rule book and start again. Do you here of OAPs freezing to death in Norway a comparable sized country with as much oil as us, but they have used the benefit to build a oil fund. Much the same as Shetland has and the OAPs don't freeze there either. I rest my case. At last!
Stouters, where have you been. I thought you had decided to give up educating me there for a moment. I belive that the good Lord Elgin actually paid with a letter of credit drawn on the Bank of Scotland but it's ok. That's one of the things we'll ask for back when we become independent and you have to pay us 8.4% of everything acquired since 1707 by the British State. Like the Tait, the Potrait Gallery, the V&A etc. It should easily pay our 8.4% share of the national debt. We wouldn't want the Parthenon BTW. It looked as if it's falling to bits the last time I saw it, which admittidly was about 10 years ago but I don't think they could have afforded to get the builders in, in that time.
DL. Thanks for your reply.
Firstly drink and drugs problems could be stopped immediately if dealers were locked up for life and drunks were given a few months inside. And the SNP's minimum alcohol price would be quickly ramped up. Wasn't VAT a tax on luxury items which now covers everything essential for life ? When did taxes ever decrease or stay the same ? Only about 10% of car tax and petrol tax goes on roads. I agree about the smoky pubs but why can't smokers have smoking clubs where they can enjoy a drink and a ciggie ? It's the states attitude that you will do as we say not as we do that gets me. Cheap booze at the parliament and free taxis home when they're pissed. Smoking rooms at Westminster while they ban us from smoking.
On drugs we don't need to have video conferences and liasons with Colombia ( yes I saw the programme) if we just put the dealers away forever. You would soon see drug taking reduce when there are no drugs.
Nicola didn't write a 'stock letter'. She said not to jail the guy ( consider an alternative due to his health, cheeldren etc) so that's interference and pressure from the second most powerful leader in Scotland on a judge who will be minded not to upset the establishment. No jail for someone who has already defrauded us out of £50K ( 4yr sentence) and has just defrauded us out of £80K. WTF were all those tv adverts about benefit fraud for ? No ifs no buts you will go to jail ( unless wee Nicola can swing it for you not to go to jail). Gross misjudgement on her part.
These green renewable energies are just pie in the sky. Denmark has 6,000 wind turbines and has had no reduction in CO2 emissions ( 50% increase from 2005 to 2006). This is because they have to ramp up their convential power stations when the wind drops and then ramp them back down again. They haven't reduced their convential power stations at all but have spent billions turning their country into a wasteland. Ask a Dane what they think about wind power if you ever meet one. They travel to Scotland to see how their country used to look. Ditto germany. In fact worse for Germany as they have the 2 months of high pressure in winter which leaves their wind turbines idle.
Our turbines will last about 10 years in the harsh environment of the North Sea before being replaced. And the pylons are 4 times higher than the A9 pylons. A sort of pylon on steroids. Why not just paint them red ? It wouldn't make them any less intrusive. All these turbines and pylons create massive emissions during construction and would add to global warming if that wasn't a scam and didn't exist. The scientists are now admitting that there has been no warming for the last 15years. And yes the middle ages warming period did exist.
So rather than turn Scotland into a wasteland for no reason I think we should spend our money on convential power staions alongside hydro power which has proven successful.
Your hopes of voting SNP and somehow they will forget that they want to be in the EU is a bit unlikely to happen. They're more pro Europe than Labour.
Ukippers, I agree I would lock all the bastards up for bloody long sentences and I would also go down the 3 hits and you're out way for drugs they do in the States. I don't have any problem with smokers having a licensed smoking shibeen where they can go and ruin their lungs till their hearts content as long as they don't expect us to pay for their cancer ops. Yes, it was a gross kisjudgement on her part but as it was done as a MSP, I am willing to believe she made a mistake and I don't see that she needs to resign as a Minister.
The major renewable energy which we will be able to produce will be wave power from the Pentland Firth which has vast drops in tidal currents. As far as Europe is concerned once Scotland is independent which is my major goal then people may see that it would be advantageous to go like Norway and have trading agreements only. Anyway the way the Euro is going hopefully the whole thing will tear asunder shortly.
DL. That wave energy project hasn't even been proven yet. Just a small project at the moment that looks unfeasible ( the moving buoys seem to dislike the strong waves and get damaged at the joints).
The Scottish governments report plans for 150 wind turbines just for Shetland alone. With a lot more turbines for onshore and offshore in the Moray Firth / North Sea area etc.
Seems a big gamble when you consider the attack on our beautiful landscape of 600 pylons over 300 feet tall running for 220kms through our national parks and other beautiful areas like Killiecrankie , Stirling Castle etc. I suppose Jim Mather could have insisted on underground cabling but he hasn't and said he hopes the power companies might consider it. What are the power companies ? Charities or something ?
Smokers pay about £10Bn in taxes and cost about £5Bn for healthcare ( plus die off early and miss out on their state pensions) so I think we're quids in there. Why annoy them so much ? Heck they might stop smoking.
Obesity costs about £5Bn in diabetes treatment etc and is set to rise. Not heard of banning pies or taxing them until the pips squeak.
Video of Nicola urging all of us to be 'counter fraud champions' as it costs us all a lot of money every year. The fraudsters can expect their frauds to be 'highlighted nationally' and be exposed to the 'full force of the law'. ( speaking 4 months after taking up the case of Rauf)..

Ukippers, have you ever been in Shetland. Fuck me it would be improved by a few pylons. I once spent 4 days on a ferry sailing up and down the east of Shetland in the lee of a ferocious gale because it couldn't dock, but that's a story for another day. Aye, as I say you can all smoke yourselves to death as far as I am concerned but I don't want my lungs contaminated in the meantime. Don't think I haven't smoked I have. I stopped 4 times once for 9 years, but I have managed to stay off them for a while. Doctors are now coming to accept that obesity is a disease, don't laugh, but you get help if you are an Alchy or a smoker but not if you're a fat bastard. They are now accepting that bariatric surgery if done soon enough can save the health service a fortune in future expense for someone who is obese. It's just not a cse of not eating pies. People can be genetically prone to obesity. Thin people often don't realise that.
Championie, Yes what she did was unfortunate and stupid but I believe done with the best intentions. It was written as a MSP not as the HEALTH MINISTER and therefore for Labour to demand her resignation as a minister is ridiculous. It will blow up in their face however when the Jack McConnell writing a similar letter for a pal of Frank Roy's son, with whom he shared an office.
Ukippers, no, I had a doctor explain it to me once. For instance I'm 55. My parents lived through the war and rationing. When I was a kid it was a mortal sin almost not to clear your plate. I remember once I got the same plate of food for a week because I didn't like it and wouldn't eat it. My father insisted that he was not wasting good food and I got it every day for a week. In the meantime of course my mother was feeding me behind his back so it wasn't a fair contest! All through my childhood I had starving fucking Biafrans flung at me every time I left some food so in the long run it was easier not to leave any. I would still eat everything on my plate whether I'm full or not. As an example my meal tonight consisted of 150g of minced beef, 150g of onions and 600g of mixed vegetables. Two apples, some melon, 150g of blueberries and some sugar free jelly. Not a great deal of calories, about 800, but well over a kilo of food. And I'll eat that quantity most nights. I've been on a diet for a month eating less than 2000 calories a day and I've lost 6.5 kilos or a stone. So that's the point I'm trying to make. If you ate that quantity of food at one sitting you would be spewing for a week. Mind you, you might be a fat bastard in disguise!
How about exercise ? Balance the calories you eat with the exercise you get. In theory you could eat pies all day long if you exercised all day long.
I remember all the biafra jokes from the 70's.
A Biafran sent a letter to the Italian embassy thanking them for the bags of noodles. "They were fantastic leg warmers."
Ukippers, it's the exercise that's the problem. I lost a leg in the Falklands so I find it difficult with this prosaic one they gave me.
Dark, I get the feeling that you might be what the “do gooders” would describe as a “tad fat”.
I too have spent time afloat of the Orkneys and Shetlands and suggest that you spend a few more weeks at sea – you would lose stones, particularly at this time of year.
Just eat less – some of my best friends are very overweight, they enjoy life to the full but the way to get thin is to eat less and get some (any) exercise. It always works but it does need a lot of will power; if you can stop smoking you have enough.
Go on a diet and publish your weight here every week.
By the way; the Lomond Arms at Falkland in Cupar (which I suspect is the only Falkland you have been to) can get a bit rough on a Friday night and I’ve seen a lot of legless people in there. The next time I see a big fat man with one leg, in the "Falker", I’ll buy you a pint.
