PORTUGUESE POLICE SAY THAT MADELEINE McCANN IS DEAD AND HER PARENTS ARE LIARS.

Portuguese police are convinced that Madeleine McCann's parents faked her abduction, despite having no evidence against them, a court was told yesterday.

Officers leading the investigation into the three-year-old's disappearance believed she died in a 'tragic accident' and that her parents hid her body, a senior detective admitted yesterday.  After almost three years of leaks, slurs and innuendo, Inspector Tavares Almeida laid bare unsubstantiated police suspicions against the couple.
It was the first time any Portuguese police officer has spoken publicly about the decision to name the McCanns as arguidos, or official suspects.  Mr Almeida said the decision was taken after he filed a damning report to the Portuguese prosecutor in September 2007, four months after Madeleine's disappearance.

'The conclusion arrived at in the report was that Madeleine McCann died in the apartment and that the McCanns simulated the abduction,' he said.  Portuguese police believe Madeleine McCann died in a 'tragic accident' and that her parents hid her body.  'So they are suspects. It was a tragic accident in the apartment that night.'

I am told that to post anything on the McCanns is leaving you open to a lot of abuse.  Is the lassie dead or not?  I don't really know, but I think like a lot of us we draw our own conclusions in cases like this.  Yes, they have kept on looking for her and a worldwide organisation has grown up around Maddie.  An organisation which has obviously sustained them well throughout the enquiry, what with flights, private detectives, lawyers etc.  What you have to remember is that these are not like the usual 'GADGIES' who hide the kid under the Uncle's bed, these are highly intelligent people.

Did a tragic accident occur?  Again, I don't know, but I do know that the McCanns would have the brains and the wherewithall to carry it off, IMO.

Obviously I can’t really comment on the McCann’s issue because I don’t know all the facts but I do know that a little girl has probably been killed and that is terrible.

My suspicion, based on nothing other than guesswork, is that the McCann’s are or were covering up some relatively minor act, and the girl was coincidentally snatched (I have mates that are GPs who admit to having sedated their children from time to time). I suspect that’s why the Portuguese Police don’t fully believe their story. Some small obfuscation has grown to blur the picture.

It would be interesting to know what sort of homes the McCanns themselves grew up in as this would indicate how they treated their children, there is a tradition of strict discipline in some Northern Irish families and even the dimmest Portugoose flatfoot will no doubt have investigated this.

I’m also certain that most people don’t realise how limited foreign Police are in terms of resources and most don’t have the technical paraphernalia or training that their British counterparts can call on; that’s why places like Portugal are cheap to visit. It’s also why you have to carefully watch your kids and wallet when you are in the third (or near third) world countries.

At best, because of what they did and where they did it, the McCanns were criminally imprudent on that fateful night, but they didn’t deserve what happened – no one deserves to lose a child in those circumstances. Something happened that the police know about that has not been revealed.

Whatever happened I feel very sorry for them – they will never recover.

I've met ex-coppers like Amaral and, quite frankly, it's my belief that he is either trying to hide his total incompetence by attacking the McCanns or trying to hide his involvement with a paedo ring of men in high places by attacking the McCanns. Take another look at him before he shaved off the moustache, DL, I know his sort well.

Stouters, I don't really know either although I did watch that video that was doing the rounds some time ago made by this character who was in the police which showed fairly convincingly that it had been 'difficult' to snatch Maddie and concluded that there had been some type of accident behind the couch as they had brought in some cadaver sniffing dog.

I might be wrong but I thought the McCanns, at least the husband, were Scots. I know it can be difficult for you English Masters to pick up the subtle nuances od the regional dialect.

I just feel there is more to this, than meets the eye.

Spidey, I agree he doesn't look the most convincing policeman I have ever seen. The McCanns on the other hand are just a wee bit too slick for me and something at the back of my mind gives me a nagging doubt. As I say they are two intelligent people who could pull it off if there had been some sort of tragic accident.

DL. Mrs McCann is from Liverpool and Mr McCann is from Glasgow.
If they did accidentaly kill their daughter then it would make sense for them to cover it up. This would ensure their twins had two parents to look after them.
I can't see how they could dispose of the body though if they had the press camped on their doorstep. Seems impossible to me.
There are lots of alleged lurid details in the Portugese press if you can be bothered to read them ( easily translated at babelfish or google)
The more lurid are...
The kids were regularly doped while the tapas 7 drank 12 bottles of wine and beers every night.
It was a group sex club who used each others apartments on alternate nights.
The McCanns were totally broke after buying the mansion and knew they couldn't pay to defend the court case into the accidental death of their daughter ( 3 months behind in mortgage payments )
It's not hard to see why they want this policeman silenced. It would open the floodgates otherwise.

Can't understand ( and never have been able to ) how they could have left their children to go for a meal in the first place. What right-minded parent could do that?I know I couldn't.How could they enjoy a meal KNOWING they'd left their own children ALONE?I thought Gerry McCann was a surgeon.SURELY he would be of enough intelligence to KNOW not to leave children alone. Its a BASIC parental responsibility.

DL four things about this have always given the game away as a WARNING. To who I don't know but that's the read from here. I always reckoned if someone dug into Lab politics starting in the Midlands and followed it into Europe you might get somewhere.

1 Key Stone cops and "deliberate" fannying around. That is a BIG giveaway ALWAYS.
2 MSM muckying the waters at every opportunity.
3 Murat giving a final polish to the whole mess by REALLY muddling it up
4 The screaming and yelling in politics involving Brown and the Old Hitlerjungend lad in Rome.

Noone has been on that childs side since day one because all 4 groups know what happened and why.

Finally has the "group" they were part of been thoroughly sniffed at?

Shades hits the nail on the head – no responsible person would leave small children, in a strange apartment, on their own, especially not on a hot night when sleeping is difficult.

If any of us left our kids alone every night for a week while we popped down to the “Moon Under Water” for 12 refreshing ales we would get invited to an interview without coffee in the offices of the local social services.

These guys are educated middle class people, they did know better; something is being hidden.

I don’t like G McCann, (which doesn’t mean he did it) because his manner and language scream cover up; he repeats “there is no proof she is dead” so often that I suspect he is trying to convince us to believe a lie – “the lady doth protest too much, methinks”

I also find it very odd that right from the start the McCanns refused to accept any blame and they also rejected a British Police Liaison Officer and hired a PR man instead, they have always walked away from questions they don’t like, they don’t appear to have cooperated with the Police in any way; most people in their situation rely on the authorities who have a whole infrastructure there to help in these circumstances. G McCann has tried to run the situation right from the very start, the question is why?

On another point, I have never seen or heard any of the other members of the party that night – why aren’t they involved in the efforts to find Maddy? If I was a good enough friend to go on holiday with the McCanns I would be out there looking for the little girl – I would be giving interviews to try to keep the hunt going – but no nothing; the silence is quite eloquent. Why doesn’t Dr Payne answer or deny the paedophile suggestions made by another Doctor and his wife?

No – it is all very fishy; poor little girl.

Boaby, I have read some of the lurid details and even if you believe a quarter of them, well there is no smoke without fire. The financial aspect of this case do worry me. If someone knicked my kid the first thing I would do is to co-operate fully with the local police, not set up some 'foundation' to try and find her. They must have spent a fortune paying for all the expenses they have incurred. There is just something fishy. I think it's him I find dodgy. Maybe because I'm Scottish as he is, I might sense things that someone from England might not. Does that sound stupid? Anyway you know what I mean.

Dark Lochnagar said...

Ansel, you are quite correct. It is common on the continent to take children out late at night foir meals or with adults if they were having a beer. If you were going to neglect them, then you shouldn't have taken them on holiday ith you in the first place. Maybe it's all this supposed angst after she has disappeared when they couldn't give a fuck for her when they were bevvying with their pals that makes you suspicious.

Dark Lochnagar said...

INCOMING!!!!! Are you suggsting that there has been some sort of MSM coverup from the start along the lines of the Dunblane Massacre and the supposd paedophile ring that involved, Hamilton and George Robertson which was covered up in the MSM but nearly surfaced in the 'Herald'?

Dark Lochnagar said...

Stouters, you make some good points, (which is unlike you), but there is nothing you have said I can disagree with.
Yes, I don't like him either and the whole operation just appears too 'slick' for my liking. It's too well organised and funded and it always worried me when the police named them as suspects they couldn't get out of Portugal quick enough, when before they were fixtures in the place. As you say you never hear from any of the so-called friends and what investigations have been made into them? I have always prided myself on being able to read people instantly and I didn't like that pair from the outset. Maybe it's some primevil instinct but as you say you sense something is just not quite right.

It would be interesting to know if Brian Healy - Kate McCanns father has any Irish nationalist links.

Dark Lochnagar said...

Stouters, Why would that be relevent?

Barking Spider said...

DL, the fact that another woman's child was abducted in the same area and Amaral had the shit beaten out of her until he had extracted a confession of murder, (she is still languishing in prison for this trumped-up "crime"), would make anyone a bit anxious to get out of the place.

So, Amaral has form - he likes to clear up his cases by hook or by crook and sweep the real evidence under the carpet and that covers up the activities of the paedo ring in the process, keeping his associates out of the picture and out of trouble. Who knows how many of his superiors may also be involved?

Dark Lochnagar said...

Spidey, so your assertion is that here has been a paedo ring operating in the area who have been abducting, abusing and murdering children. It's a theory. Is there any other evidence apart from this other women?

banned said...

Any chance that Inspector Tavares Almeida has done this in order to goad the McCanns into sueing them for libel so as to get the case back into court?

Dark Lochnagar said...

Banned, I think Tavares will be ruined if the McCanns win, they are suing him for a £million. He has already published another book which he asserted the same accusations as he did in the first book. I don't know when this became more about money and less about finding the kid or what happened to her. McCann says there is no reason to think she is dead, buy equally there is no reason to think she is alive.

Darkers, as there is no footprint of a giant hound outside the bedroom window we must eliminate the impossible so that we are left with the truth (apologies to Sherlock).

I guess that the first thing Taggart would do is establish the motive, it might be: - anger, revenge/punishment, sexual, honour, financial etc.

Anger; it is reported that the McCanns often got angry with Maddy because she was a difficult child.

Revenge/punishment; might not be just on the parents, it could be on other members of the family including grandparents etc – (hence the question about nationalists in the background). Was one of the McCanns punishing the other for sexual infidelity or some other misdeed?

Honour; can probably be ruled out for obvious reasons.

Financial; the McCanns were 3 months behind on the mortgage payments; was the whole thing a bungled attempt to make money? Did they sell a difficult child, possibly even to a good home?

Everyone is focused on the paedophile possibility but there are others.

The one certainty is the Dr G McCann is a very dominant man that is not giving anything away.

Dark Lochnagar said...

Stouters, you raise some interesting points and although I don't think they could all be ruled out some woulod seem to be unlikely. I would have thought the revenge one would be an improbable route to go down, as they would have presumably told the police about it, but I suppose Shergar disappeared so maybe there are some possibilities.
As I've said before, there is just something about McCann that I find disconcerting and I know that you can't base a case against someone for that flimsiest of reasons, but there you go.

Dark Lochnagar said...

Boaby, it's an interesting interview which everyone should read. I can't be bothered with that guy who runs the blog, what a prick he is. You see him commenting in the Hootsman with the bi-line, George Laird, campaign for human rights at Glasgow University. Tit.

wee boaby said...

I suppose he wants to be open and honest about where he works and what his job is.
I don't visit the Hootsmon, Herald, Rangers etc these days. You can get all the Labour news on the BBC.
This bullshit about megrahi was funny ( Daily Rangers)

Yes it's a hard call. Maybe sort his job and stuff out first before making more enemies.
It's gone quiet at the moment on blogate. I'm sure something is brewing in the background

Boabs, I think you're right. There must be something brewing on the lead up to the election. Blogs will be a large part of electioneering, I am sure.
