DRINKS INDUSTRY IGNORES 'NANNY' WARNING FOR BOTTLES

Drinks firms have snubbed a Government call to put health messages and warnings for pregnant women on their bottles.

A leaked official report reveals that just one in ten bottles and cans carry the health messages recommended by the Department of Health two years ago.  The most controversial element was a call to include a warning to women who were trying for a baby or already pregnant.  Drinks firms were advised to use the wording: 'Avoid alcohol if pregnant or trying to conceive' or a logo of a pregnant woman with a red line across it.

Quite right too.  The logo looks more like 'FAT SLAGS SHOULDN'T DRINK BEER'  When are people going to be allowed to take responsibility for their own lives without a NANNY STATE telling them what's good for them.  Parents and the education system don't educate the underclass morons in how to live their lives, so does the Government think that sticking a few labels on some beer bottles will make a difference?

Down here in South Wales alcohol is responsible FOR the majority of pregnancies.

Was going to say the same thing myself. They should keep the pregnant woman symbol but remove the red strip from it.

Brew, It was ever so I think. I remember in my day the girls would sit in the pub around from the dancing drinking 'special brews' and large gins. Then the daft bastards wondered why they got pregnant.

That comment above conjures up a nasty picture in my head, DL, eeewwww!!

Labour is so fucking weak that the drinks industry is just giving them the finger - they'll be gone in a few months.

Spidey, Happy New Year. The bastards are just hanging on til the last minute hoping the economy turns. They've still got a lot of voters out there, don't be fooled.

Brew, I was just bre-reading your comment. In Scotland it's Sperm that's responsible for most pregnancies not alcohol!

Labour are trying to shovel through as much of their nonsense as possible before being kicked into touch so well done the brewers for fucking them off.

My neighbours lad got his long-term girlfriend pregnant; despite them both being the lifelong products of Labours sub-pime education they did not need the nanny stazi to tell them that it was not advisable for her to drink during pregnancy. He also, largley, stopped drinking in support.

Yesterday she produced a healthy baby boy.

Banned, good. I think anyone knows that drinking will harm your baby but I believe they're still a lot of weans born undersize and sometimes brain damaged because their mothers drunk or took drugs.
