SCOTTISH OIL TO ONCE AGAIN FLOAT BRITISH TREASURY?

10 years after it's last production and due to new extraction methods and the high price of oil, the oil field, first known as the 'Argyll Field', the first in the North Sea, is to be re-excavated.

Does that mean that the recovery in the UK will once again be led by Scottish Oil, as it was in the 70s.  After all, who wins the lottery and gives 90% of the winnings to their neighbour?  No one could be that stupid, could they?

It's not Scottish oil mate it's ours and you can't go until we've extracted the lot.

Scotlands oil is not ours but te UK treasuries. All the coastal waters surrounding Scotland are regarded as UK so the oil revenue has never entered into the balance of payments between the Scotland and England which is why we often get the English quoting the fact that the treasury spends more per head on Scotland than on England. Add in the 3 billion a year the Exchequer gets from the whiskey business and you can see why they are reluctant to let us go.

How are you enjoying Spain by the way, my little place is down by Rojales, although i havent been in ages.

Toni, hi. Not yet in Spain, going on Tuesday for 3 months. We've got lots of big decisions to make when we're there about what to do on a permanent basis. Give me a shout if you're across and we can meet up for lunch or a beer.
