The result of the Windfarm poll, are they a good idea was as follows:
- GOOD IDEA 44%
- BAD IDEA 48%
- DON'T KNOW 8%
That's a surprising result. I would have thought going by your comments that it would have been nearer 80% against. Maybe we still have to make up our minds!

Power from the wind is a good idea simply because there is a lot of wind about and it seems to be constantly being replaced by nature.
It's also a bad idea because despite what the cretins Huhne & Milliband say over and over again the technology to effectively extract and store power from wind doesn't yet exist.
Whereas the technology to extract power from the waves does and gets bugger all in funding to make it even better.
Reason being the cretins can actually have a photo op with wind turbines wave machines are not very photogenic.
I was going to give this a carefully crafted response but have just noticed that SERENE BRANSON is trending on Yahoo! news so i'll be back later.
I have a wind farm on my estate in Scotland built with a substantial subsidy from my enlightened administration.
I think wind farms are an excellent idea and will provide us with energy when we close down all of our power stations.
"I think wind farms are an excellent idea and will provide us with energy when we close down all of our power stations"
Except for when there's no wind, too much wind, it's too hot, it's too cold or when they self-destruct when their brakes fail sending dangerous shrapnel flying everywhere.
We need nuclear power and we need it now instead of this useless "green" bollocks presided over by the total eco-nutcase, Huhne - but then they couldn't send us back to being an easy-to-control, pre-industrial society if they built nuclear power stations.
@Oily Eck, guess where we will be importing electricity from when the wind farms fail?
From France where it will be generated by Nuclear Power as it has been doing in complete safety for the last fifty years.
banned, Barking..
Sorry was taking the piss out of Oily Eck ( our FM) who wants to send Scotland back to the dark ages with his recent promise to 'make Scotland the renewables capital of the world' if re elected.
William, So would that be a yes or no? :) I'd love to see Milipede with an underwater oporrtunity to promote wave power. Except forget to give 'monkey head' an aqualung.
Franky, welcome to the blog. I believe it's important to show that one has embraced the modern technology and doesn't feel humbled by the forces of nature, rather embracing them for the plebs to marvel at.
Eckers, the jobs of the technicians can then be transferred to windfarms and they can dig holes to put them. Excellent joined up thinking.
Spidey, you're becoming very cynical in your old age. Politicians control us? What chance is there of that? After all we control them. Er, don't We?
Banned and then of course they will want to bring their nuclear waste to Scotland to to bury it in some granite mountain.
Eckers, we are supposed to have 40% of all renewables in Europe. The building of a power cable from Scotland to Scandinavia should mean that any excess we have is sent there. Wave power is the future rather than wind power when the correct technology is designed.
DL, Serene Branson "irony".
Banned, I got it!
