HAS THE US REALLY LOST THE PLOT AT LAST?

Following the US Senators bizarre demand that Members of the Scottish Government should be dispatched forthwith to the US, to answer why Megrahi was released from Prison, I've come across this bizarre request from the US Government for access to an Icelandic MP's Twitter account, by the name of Birgitta Jonsdottir.

First of all Birgitta gave us the following Tweet: 
just got this: Twitter has received legal process requesting information regarding your Twitter account in (relation to wikileaks)
 

Birgitta then, a short time later sent this Tweet:

usa government wants to know about all my tweets and more since november 1st 2009. do they realize i am a member of parliament in iceland?

Does the USA imagine for one moment that they are the Government of the World?  That they can demand from Members of Sovereign Governments, that they reveal whatever the US wants?  If so, they are sadly deluded.  The Icelandic Government should remind the US, that although they are not as powerful, they are a civilization that many credit with discovering America, instead of Columbus!
