MET OFFICE CHECKS DATA FOR 160 YEARS IN QUESTIONING CLIMATE CHANGE
The Met Office plans to re-examine 160 years of temperature data after admitting that public confidence in the science on man-made global warming has been shattered by leaked e-mails.
The new analysis of the data will take three years, meaning that the Met Office will not be able to state with absolute confidence the extent of the warming trend until the end of 2012. The Met Office database is one of three main sources of temperature data analysis on which the UN’s main climate change science body relies for its assessment that global warming is a serious danger to the world. This assessment is the basis for next week’s climate change talks in Copenhagen aimed at cutting CO2 emissions.
The Government is attempting to stop the Met Office from carrying out the re-examination, arguing that it would be seized upon by climate change sceptics.
Or is it as we thought that CLIMATE CHANGE is just an excuse for MORE TAXES and a tightening of AUTHORITARIAN RULE.

"The Government is attempting to stop the Met Office from carrying out the re-examination" Well that should not be very difficult since the Met Office is a branch of the MOD and most of Hadley/CRUs money comes from DEFRA.
Sign at the entrance " This is a prohibited place under the Official Secrets Act, any person entering without authority is liable to arrest under the terms of the Act".
Banned, I didn't realise that was the case. But in thinking about it, I should have known that the met office would be some sort of QANGO. No it will be fucking easy to stop it if they stop their funding! Still maybe Cameron will be more climate change sceptical and there are signs at the moment he is.
I was looking for your link DL but notice banned as mentioned what I was thinking.
There must be someone in the Met Office with sufficient integrity to publish the data, say, to Wikileaks ... then the whole world can look at it and analysis done in weeks instead of years.
It's a sad state of affairs when a bunch of self serving "scientists" put their egos ahead of open debate and try to spin the data. Shame on them.
Sodroasta, he does that to me often as well. It's infuriating.
Eddie, it's time someone brought all this out in the open. There is too much dubiety as to what id genuinely happening. I like to put some rubbish in the wrong bucket now and again just to make a protest.
Scunnert, it's a huge problem for the world. If the data is wrong governments all over the world will be cutting back their economies in an effort to fight climate change and millions of people's incomes and quality of life will suffer. It could be like a child who has done something wrong they are scared of admitting it.
