THE LEGATUM PROSPERITY INDEX FOR 2009 has just been announced and the best and worst are shown above. The index is determined from the following criteria:
■Economic Fundamentals – a growing, sound economy that provides opportunities for wealth creation
■Entrepreneurship and Innovation – an environment friendly to new enterprises and the commercialisation of new ideas
■Democratic Institutions – transparent and accountable governing institutions that promote economic growth
■Education – an accessible, high-quality educational system that fosters human development
■Health – the physical wellbeing of the populace
■Safety and Security – a safe environment in which people can pursue opportunity
■Governance – an honest and effective government that preserves order and encourages productive citizenship
■Personal Freedom – the degree to which individuals can choose the course of their lives
■Social Capital – trustworthiness in relationships and strong communities
Britain for those interested is at NUMBER 12, ONE BEHIND IRELAND who are at NUMBER 11 with NORWAY coming in AT NUMBER 5.
Hmmm! NORWAY and IRELAND. Aren't those two countries in the SNP ARC OF PROSPERITY, MR MURPHY?

I think England play the bottom four countries in the world cup next year.

Whenever you hear the word prosperity check who's picked your pocket.
INCOMING!!!! Ah but, look at the criteria more carefully. You will notice as well that 2 of the countries in the top 5 are not in the EU.

But my ideal scenario is England v France in the final. Two all with a minute to go.
Henry runs at the English defence. The ball is going out but he skillfully guides it back in with his left hand ( 3 times rather than 2 would be good). It drops to his foot and he slams it into the back of the net. As Rooney and Beckham go mental with the ref ( Hugh Dallas who was given a one off job ) the ref pushes them away and blows the final whistle.
The crowd go mental. The zulus scream "get it up you" and Michael Caine shouts " Don't throw those bloody spears at me".
Oh and Lorraine kelly runs onto the pitch and flashes her tits.
That would just about make my night.
Ma Loon, The first part would be marvellous, but Lorraine flashing her tits, Christ my life would be nearly complete.
Ma loon p.s. Mind you if they won it and Brown was congratulating them and overmilking the situation as he would, the Labour party could be dead in the water in Scotland.
Lorraine was on telly last night and it said she was 50. No way. She looks gorgeous. I'd say 40 at the most.
I think Gordon will be in a sanitorium by the time the world cup comes around. Unless cast iron dave manages to blow the election.
Ma Loon, I'm afraid she is 50 but like a fine wine she matures with age. The funny thing is that the older you get the older the women you fancy..Funny that! The Tories blowing the election is not an improbable prediction. I been banging on about it for ages and have been betting Labour and a hung Parliament at 8/1 and 10/1 for ages. When it gets nearer the election and the odds tighten as they will I'll lay them and get 6/1+ for no risk.
