DO GERMAN CARS COME WITH A DIFFERENT SPEED LIMIT FROM THE REST OF US?

After having driven the 1800 or so  miles from Spain to Scotland this week, keeping more or less to the national speed limits, it struck me that at least 80% of the cars that overtook me, were of German origin, BMWs, Audis, Mercs, Volkswagens and the odd Porche.

Do the owners of these vehicles get some sort of extra speed limit or is it just a teutonic  power thing?

I noticed this a long time ago. Its the mindset of the owners, which is why my name for brands like VW, Audi and especially BMW is 'Twatmobiles'.

Rips, there are some number of Audis on the road, particularly the A6. I also hate BMW drivers with a fucking vengeance.

German autobahns have stretches where there are no limits. To be frank accidents are not usually created by speed but by slow driving idiots that are not paying attention to what is going on then simply think they can simply change directions because they put on their indicator .. the speed is not the problem .. it is the capability of the driver behind the wheel and whether or not he has the attention span of a gnat !!

Mavericko, welcome to the blog, but yes, I agree that the driver is paramount. When I had a Supra 30 years ago, I could do the Costa Blanca in 24 hours, but the drivers of the cars that passed me were not German but Spanish, French and Brits driving German cars, so Autobahns have fuck all to do with it.

Maverick - I'll tell you what the cause of most accidents is, and it aint slower moving drivers. Its the twat in his BMW that decides to try and intimidate me out of the way by tailgating. Do that to me if you want to make my blood boil and I'll smoke my tyres and make you kiss the fucking windscreen.
