SO WHY THE FUCK IS THE PRICE OF GAS GOING UP THEN?

I was perusing a BBC news page there, as is my want, about the dangers of shale gas,  that it might introduce dangerous chemicals into drinking water, when I came across this paragraph.

Why are the advantages of shale gas?
It boosts overall worldwide gas supplies and can help to reduce market cost. Shale is not anticipated to supply a large proportion of Britain's gas needs, but it is contributing to a worldwide flow of gas that has halved gas prices in the US domestic market, and led to a glut in world markets. It's estimated to have offered gas security to the US and Canada for about 100 years, and has presented an opportunity to generate electricity at half the CO2 emissions of coal. Exploration companies are also claiming there is a potential £70bn of reserves in rocks deep under south Wales.

If there's a GLUT of gas on the open market, why are all the fuckers putting their energy prices up by 11-18% and why aren't these useless, corporate arse licking, wankers, that we have elected doing something about it, as if I don't fucking know.

Oli, oh yes that comes into it. I think the older I get the more left wing I'm becoming. It's very embarrassing!

DL

Gas is going up because wankers like this are disrupting localised sourcing.

Anon - 'Gasland' ranks with Bambi & King Kong as great fictional movies.

Anonymous, I've seen the results of shale oil removal which uses vast amounts of water to produce it, to say nothing about the energy. When it gets more expensive to mine it than what they get for it, it is no longer viable.

Publes, to be honest with you, I'm becoming more disillusioned with big companies who it seems to me if they are let to behave in an unbridled fashion, with the politicians in their back pockets, just screw the arse off us. Take a look at Murdoch, for instance. Now I don't particularly think there is much wrong with phone hacking in the right case like a celeb for instance but the hacking of victims' relatives etc, shows how far these cunts think they can go. The prices of gas and electricity aren't going up the same in Spain or France where the Governments have some proper control. These bastards are taking the pish with the British people!

It is because they hav tied the price of gas to oil that it keeps going up with the oil price regardless of the fact the cost of gas could be going down.

Just another scam to rip us off.

Billy, I'm afraid that's all it is. Coming from a generation, where companies treated their customers with a degree of respect and politicians, who were normally Tory and had a few bob, didn't need to rip the public off. Labour guys just wanted to represent their constituents and didn't go into politics to enrich themselves, I find it hard to take. Maybe I am too much of an idealist!
