WHY ARE THE IRISH MORE POLITICALLY SAVVY THAN US THICK BRITS?

Irish in knowing how to exploit a situation for their own benefit shocker. Of course our Irish cousins, are far more savvy. Words are their stock in trade. Like many Glaswegians I love the Irish and its no surprise to me they made the most of the Euro while it lasted. He is incorrect in most of what he says. Money is irrelevant, it has no value I have been in three countries that have been afflicted by hypewr inflation, nothing on the scale of Germany in the twenties but still shocking. If you have been in a supermarket where a member of staff walked around repricing everything then when finished checking with her boss and restarting the process again you will know what I am talking about. The Euro was a currency that was created but, in my opinion, always non-viable. But currencies don't just get born they die as well and if anyone doubts that I have a million Cruzieros I'll sell you for a thousand dollars. A refugee I once knew told me when she was a little girl she made it to the Thai border from Kampuchea. She could see the Red Cross tents but the Thai border patrols were only letting in people who had gold and gemstones. She was lucky, her mother had sewn some of the family gold into the lining of her skirt.

By the way, DL I am surprised you didn't post about our victory over the Springboks which received about 2 column inches of coverage here in England.

The Irish were politically savvy up until they decided to bail out their banks.
They took billions of loans and replaced their crumbling infrastructure with new roads, housing and airports etc.
They should have then done an Iceland and said sorry we're bust so you will have to fuck off I'm afraid.
Oh and Iceland brought in a law that made home repossession illegal. Sorted !

bjorker,
Yes but Iceland wasn't part of our Euro dream. Iceland effectively is a large hedge fund. First rule of banking, not even trading is that when someone accepts higher interest rates for borrowing money they are a dodgy credit. In my second job I recall reminding the deposit traders, (this was long before risk management was an actual job title), if someone is payin up in the depo market that means no other fucker is lending to them - do we really want to be the last ones holding the package in a pass the parcel competition.

Nutjob, It's strange how a country can be defined because of a shortage of potatoes. I was listening to Radio 2 in the Gym and one of that annoying prick that comes on at 2's 'factoids' was that Britain imports 96% of either Fruit or Vegetables and the other was 46%, I didn't hear which was which. So maybe it's not so strange.

Antonio, you are the only person I know, who is more savvy than the Irish about banking. The problem with the Euro and this is reflected in Britain in a smaller scale is that not all countries grow at equal rates. Therefore it is important to have the ability to set you interest rates and currency rate at a level that suits you. we see the same in Scotland. We always lag behind England, but yet our currency and interest rates are the same.

I try not to blog about sport, because although I'm fond of it, all types, I know many people whi visit are weedy types who always got a letter from their mammys to get them out of PT. I have been discussing it, in some depth on my facebook page, with a guy who go to games and also currently plays. Same user name, if you are on facebook.

Bjorker, the beauty of Iceland and this would be the same in an independent Scotland, is that the politicians are held closer to the people. When we send ours to London, they seem to get this feeling of grandeur and power and move away from the people they are supposed to represent. You're not that bird with the shaved head?

Antonio, but that doesn't mean they are going to default. Many of the poorest people in this country are paying outrageous amounts of interest, which means they never get out the mire. A company called Wonga.com are ADVERTISING loans at 3600% apr! I have complained to my MP about them and actually got a reply!

Cynical Teuchter, funnily enough, I watched that last night from a Muslim website I picked up in Twatter. In fact, it was late but I think I recommended that Toni watch it on the post underneath. Yes, we are fucked unless we do something quickly. I say default on the debts and fuck the Rothschilds who now have 70% of the world's banks

M. LeGranderse, they're coming for you next and this time we are not going to rescue you. I see France has surrendered to North Korea!

Terry Kelly, now what a wanker he appears to be having a quick shufty at his blog. So are you in Paisley as well?

Billy Carlin said...

I'm in Paisley as well DL and I tend to not bother with Councillor Kelly's blog now as it is the same old shite all the time plus as everyone else says no point in commenting as all you get back is shite.

Mind you he will be getting all excited with what is going on over in the far east at the moment - must be getting his kit out to go over and help out the North Koreans in their fight against the capitalist swine in the south.

Billy, "all you get back is shite"! That sounds like the very sort of place I should be visiting!
