SO YOU THINK THE SECURITY SERVICES IN THE WEST ARE ACCOUNTABLE?

No charges will be filed against the CIA's former top clandestine officer or anyone else in the destruction of CIA videotapes of harsh interrogations of suspected terrorists, the US Justice Department has announced.

No charges will be filed against the CIA's former top clandestine officer or anyone else in the destruction of CIA videotapes of harsh interrogations of suspected terrorists, the US Justice Department has announced.
Rodriguez, the CIA's former top clandestine officer won't be charged in the destruction of CIA VIdeotapes of interrogations of suspected terrorists

The CIA destroyed its cache of 92 videos of two al-Qaeda operatives, Abu Zubaydah and Abd al-Nashiri, being waterboarded in 2005.
Jose Rodriguez, formerly the agency's top clandestine officer, worried the tapes would be devastating to the CIA if they ever surfaced. He approved the destruction of the tapes. The decision fitted a pattern followed by the Barack Obama administration of not pursuing officials serving under George W Bush who pursued the harsher elements of the anti-terror campaign.
Now I don't know if the two gentlemen above were terrorists or not but even if they were, when we torture suspects we bring ourselves down to their level.  If this had been Chechnians in Russia being tortured by the KGB, we in the West would have been taking the moral high ground and complaining to the United Nations, for all the good they do.  We would be better letting other countries deal with their own problems, instead of jetting off to China, like Cameron and lecturing them on their 'human rights' record.  I nearly went tonight with a post about a American paper I was reading where the journalist was complaining about human rights in Iran, whilst at the same time citing Israel and anti-semitism.  And the Palestinians....?  And how will invading Iran, as we will, and nicking their oil help their human rights?  Oh you mean because most of them will be dead!
The truth is that we don't have the freedoms we think we have and I'm sure there are a lot of cases in the courts are stitch ups, to teach us poor ignorant masses to heed the   instructions of our masters
Habeas Corpus?  Don't make me laugh!

I don't give a fuck about the CIA waterboarding THREE Islamofacist nutcases, which is no worse than what British public schoolboys do to each other in the bogs, especially if it helped prevent attacks against Canary Wharf and Heathrow.
Did I hear it right on the BBC, Chinas Premier called Cameron "fruity"?

And another thing, why are the CIA still using videotapes like they are in the stone age?

The West lost the moral high ground and opened a pandoras box when Bush legalized torture.

It does seem a tad hypocritical for Cameroid to be lecturing China on human rights while our troops and allies are reaching out to the other side of the world and bombing the shit out of peasant goat herders!.

Its one thing to defend your country, city, village whatever and another to be roaming the world like a demented James Bond bombing and torturing on an industrial scale and then lecturing others like your whiter than white.

To keep up the pretense that we are doing things for the right reasons then lecture you must and continue to justify your actions.

China is not perfect and their leaders are very powerful and ruthless with a massive population, they are coming from a different history and heading towards a different future, they`re a Communist dictatorship,an evil ideology in my opinion.

Anyways I digress, torture is wrong, and the information gained is unreliable at best....

Big vote in Scottyland on minimum pricing for booze today....:(

Banned, on first sight I can understand your acceptance of torture. This waterboarding, a technique I admit I don't know a lot about, went on however for days on end continually. I think it's something to do with the old Chinese water torture and you can be sure of those cunts invented it, it works.
But the question is should we be using torture? Regrettably, I don't think so. We have nothing to say that these men were guilty and how much torture to we use? Do we dust down the rack from The Tower and use it? Thumbscrews? Today Muslim 'terrorists', tomorrow who? People who don't toe the line like your ancestors, (I won't have any), when the Global Government takes away their freedoms. No, on the whole I don't think we should be using it. How does Bush support it's use. It could have saved London from bombings. I don't believe a word that comes out his mouth. Crank up the terror levels and keep the populace scared. If you legitimise torture because it saves lives, then you will legitimise it, in the publics' eyes, for other results. The whole point about torture is that you'll say anything to get it to stop. "Oh yes, my Lud, he admitted to speeding once we got the thumbsrews on him"! Implausible? Mmmm.

I think they are using the generic word 'video' to describe their recordings.

Stanners, you were doing so well, until you got to the bit about drink prices, but more of that in a bit.

I think anyone in the West who still believes 'the intelligence reports' after being told about the WMD in Iraq must be very fucking naive.

Waterboarding is a technique I believe where the suspect thinks he is being drowned. Now if that went on for days on end, I think I would admit to being a suicide bomber! These 'intelligence reports' are Bush's justification for condoning it's use.

But, we are told it was being done by professionals. Well, I would fucking hope so. We wouldn't want amateurs doing it would we. So we now have 'professional torturers' working for the intelligence services. Interesting.

I agree with your comments about China. Yes, they have a different evolution from us and they will probably have a different outcome, unless the NWO get their way. I'm glad you're coming round to my way of thinking. So if it applies to China then it will also apply to other third world countries!

Interestingly enough, although you may think I don't agree with hiking up drink prices, I do. I have been a heavy drinker and although I always had enough money to pay for it, standing back now I can see the damage that it did to me and also what damage is being done to my countrymen, by cheap drink. It's argued against by saying, "the working man is entitled to a drink". Eh no. Their first responsibility is to their families and paying for them to have decent food and clothes rather than pouring shite cider down their throats or shooting up with £10 bags.
The price increase would mostly be on Alcopops and cheap cider. There is a chain up here , Lidl, selling 2 litre bottles of 7.5% proof cider for £1.25. Fucks sake that's cheaper than water!

In principle I agree with you DL about not allowing torture, especilly the argument about 'drift', 'give 'em an inch and they will take a mile' but in this scenario?

"Hey there David, Barak here"
"Hi Barak, how can I grovel for you today?"
"We have information that a lorry bomb is going off outside Cherry Cross subway station at 3:15 in the pm tomorrow"
DC "I think that you mean Charring Cross Barak, sir, but how did you find that out"
BO "Oh you know, we kinda waterboarded these nasty guys, that kind of thing"
DC "Oh dear, that will never do, we cannot act on information gained from torure and this conversation must cease forthwith, sorry, Barak, sir".

Banned, obviously a free and democratic Government would act on that info. Or would they? There is plenty of evidence to say that the American and British Governments knew about, Pearl Harbour, the USS Liberty incident when they stood down for an hour, the Omagh bomb, 9/11, 7/7 and plenty of other incidents we will never know about during wartime. So do I think they would say? I suppose it depends on how much credence you put in the theories that they are NWO schills and that pumping up the terror is good for business, their business. Me, I'm not sure. But, no torture should never be used. The info is not reliable and who could be next. Once they start it will become the norm.
