The man who controversially freed the Lockerbie bomber has insisted he is accountable to the Scottish Parliament and "no other".
On Friday, he told delegates at the SNP annual conference in Perth that he answered to Holyrood and no-one else, "irrespective of their size, status or power".
Mr MacAskill did not explicitly mention the Lockerbie case or Megrahi in his address to the SNP conference. But he told delegates it was a "great privilege" to be both a member of the Scottish Parliament and the country's Justice Secretary.
Mr MacAskill said he believed he had "upheld the laws and followed the values of Scotland".
GO OAN YIRSEL KENNY!

In my youth I would probably have believed that guff. But age and cynicism has set in and I know it's total nonsense.
He wants 'independence in Europe' so would be happy to be accountable to unelected EU clones like Von Rumpey and Ashton.
He believes in the global warming scam so is accountable to Scottish & Southern who will dictate where the pylons go and will ignore his request to put the cables underground.
He says Megrahi's fate is now 'with a higher power' so thinks he is accountable to God. Although I've read he's an atheist so maybe that was a porkie and he just wanted shot of Megrahi.
He is accountable to certain law firms as he will be looking to them for a job soon.
He is accountable to the media and will never upset the blatantly biased BBC in case they ignore the SNP even more than they already do.
He is accountable to the 'ethnic' population because he needs their vote so will support any waif and stray with a tenuos right to stay in the UK ( and no being a pop star on X Factor will never be a good reason - sorry )
I could go on but you get the drift...
Lying lips, what you have to remember about the SNP is that it's a broad church. There are many in the SNP who are not happy being 'in Europe'. Unfortunately there is nowhere for many people to go politically who believe in an independent Scotland, but don't believe in the socialist outlook currently advocated by the SNP. Scotland is a socialist voting country and the only way to get power and push the case for independence is to be centre left, it's a fact of life and I don't like it anymore than you do. Alex Salmond manages to hold the two wings together much like the Libdems are at the moment, but at some point it will rupture, hopefully after Independence is obtained. Remember the 'raison d'etre' of the SNP is to get independence for Scotland after that according to the party manifesto, they will disband.
We need a centre right pro-independence party in Scotland, mind you we need one in the UK too, not the mish mash of centre right shite, whose policies are practically the same.
Unlike the Scottish media in all its forms who are only accountable to the English people.
Getaffyanaff, Well there's always Newsnet Scotland!
