What I found was astonishing. I don't want to bore those of you who don't find history fascinating, so I'll just give you some brief facts and a link. It happened in the Ukraine in 1932-33, when Stalin's Government wanted to bring the Ukrainian people into line. They had been forced into the USSR roughly 10 years before, but still sought some autonomy. Basically, Stalin systematically starved the peasants of the Ukraine by grabbing all their grain supplies and executing any that were found to have even a handful. Some estimates say up to 14 Million died. In the same year 1933, Stalin was dumping grain on the European market to pay for armaments and to obtain foreign currency.
I knew that many people died under Stalin, but I wasn't aware that this systematic GENOCIDE happened. Wondering why I hadn't heard of it, I remembered the Jews and of course, they have all the World's pity in the twentieth century for the Holocaust and no one else will be allowed to interfere with that.

Oli, It is my hope that centre right pro-independence party emerges, if not before independence after it. Remember the SNP has pledged to disband after independence, job done. There are quite a lot of Tories in the SNP and if only the Tories in Scotland became independent of Westminster and pushed independence for Scotland, they would do considerably better, IMO.

It was actually amazing when you look into it. I was never taught it in school either and until you mentioned it I had never heard of it. With all due respect Shug, what a complete and utter load of pants. The holodomor happened at the start of the 1930's, long before the Marxist Theorists had set to work dismantling the western education system, however the power of the Jews within the establishments, even then was great. There was no teaching or reporting of it when it happened and this continued. And from what I can remember, all through my upbringing in school and my early life, the bogeyman was the U.S.S.R. There was no need to promote anything whatsoever to do with it as it was the world's evil.

Shuggers, I finished in sixth year in 1972 and I went into the family business. There was certainly, that I can remember no left wing bias, but maybe I don't remember it. There certainly was a lot of Jews in charge of the USSR, at that time. I honestly think that the Zionists are the Elephant in the room and the more I look into it the more it appears so. Most of the teachers I had, had been teaching for 20 years and although I have a 'Higher' in History and Economic History, I was never told about the holodomor. Very strange.

What length of time would be acceptable for Jews to memorialise the holocaust? Should they have stopped in the 60s,70s,80s? Or perhaps they should never have discussed the genocide of their peoples so as to not inconvenience your self -- an obese, bald man with saggy tits from Ayrshire!
Why not just have respect for all people who died?

1. Almost 70% of European Jewry were killed in the holocaust.
2. The Jews were systematically murdered via ghettos, concentration and extermination camps and mobile killing squads.
3. The Jews that tried to escape to Palestine were often refused entry courtesy of the 'kind' British ruling over the area via their mandate.
4. The Jews DID NOT have "all the world's pity" as you claim -- you are such a historical illiterate. If you were actually educated you would know that even after WW2, the Jews faced more persecution. In 1948, a Muslim coalition of 5 armies attacked the Jews in Israel to 'finish off what Hitler started'. Yeah, the Jews, living in their homeland were attacked by jihadists. Further attacks against Jews happened in 1967 and 1973. Did those slip your mind ya big numpty?
Oh, and the Jews do not have universal sympathy -- in fact, the UN has attacked the Jews and Israel more than any other nation on earth.
