SHOULD WE ADOPT MUSLIM 'EYE FOR AN EYE' PUNISHMENT?

A Saudi man convicted of paralysing a fellow countryman in a cleaver attack is being threatened with having his spinal cord cut in a tit-for-tat punishment.  The ultra-conservative desert Kingdom enforces Islamic law and on rare occasions metes out punishments based on the ancient code of an ‘eye-for-an-eye’.
The case judge in the northwestern province of Tabuk has sent letters to several hospitals seeking their advice on whether it is medically possible to render the attacker’s spinal cord non-functional, local newspapers said.

It is very rare for these punishments to be carried out as the victim's family generally accepts financial reparation from the offender, (funny that), but it got me thinking.  As many of you know, I don't follow any of the main religions but I don't think that should stop us from adopting any ideas they might have if there any good and after 3000 years, they must have come up with something apart from making money, (fucking stop it-Ed).
For instance, in this 'Christian' country we are supposed to live by the 10 commandments.  Fair enough, I say, that's a fair enough point for giving us some sort of morals, as long as our politicians remember them, too.  So should we adopt or regress back to the 'eye for an eye', punishment.  "You're joking", I hear you liberals shout, although there are not too many liberals read this pile of shite, but stay with me for a moment.  There you are on a quiet night out with your wife or husband, or perchance your same sex partner, (you thought I had forgotten my gay following there) and through no fault of your own, some fuckwit sticks a glass in your face causing severe impairment to your vizog.  Would you not want, if and when he was found guilty, the option of having his face surgically damaged to mirror your own impairment, or else the offer of say £10,000 from him to enjoy your recuperation?  Surely better than him going before a Judge and being given 50 hours community service because he's from a broken home?  If he knew, that might be the punishment, do you think he would have thought twice about doing it in the first place?

JUST ASKING!

Spot on, DL, although I'm like you on the religion front, I'd have to say that when it comes to punishing criminals, I'm a lot more "Old Testament" than the pile of shite that passes for justice in this Lefty Libtard hellhole!

DL,

Ironically, this was the way it used to work in Scotland. If someone fucked you up then more than likely you'd fuck em up back. The police tended to see the bigger picture and stayed out of the way. That was when police were police, didn't really like interfering in things that didn't concern them, stayed out of family squabbles and generally got on with their lives, as respected members of the public.

We do have a good system in the UK, it's just that some people (politicians) are above it and have their own laws to follow - none. Prime example is they ba us from smoking in public places but yet they have their own subsidised smoking bars in Westminster. The hypocrisy of it all.....

I don't agree in the 'eye for an eye' only because most times it boils down to money and if you're a wealthy man it means you can go about doing whatever you want. It obviously means if you're poor then you're pretty much fucked. However I'm all for teaching lessons and not letting people get away with doing wrong. The libertarian within me says "I'm the one wronged thus it's my problem and none of your concern how I handle the situation."

Spidey, I'm fed up with no one taking responsibility for their lives. I'm only in my fifties but I remember when I was younger if you didn't want to work and there were plenty of jobs, you didn't get dole money. Fair enough there has to be a fall back position for people who are unable to work through genuine illness. Same with crime. If you injured someone, you got hammered. It seems to be now that you get more time for stealing money than you get for ruining someone's life. I just think that if there was an option there to do the same to them, surgically and professionally, then they would think twice about doing it.

Harbingers, I'll give you an example of that. My FIL has Parkinsons and my MIL is crippled with arthritis, they are both 85. They have this prick who stays next to them, an elder in the church BTW, who has made their life a misery, knocking through the wall at them as if they are making a noise at all times of the day and night. The Police have been involved in the past, but it never seems to come to anything becuase he stops it for a few months and then starts again. Even this nutter's wife has told the Police that he's not right in the head. I thought right, I've had enough of this, so I phoned the fuckwit and in no uncertain terms gave him a piece of my mind and told him exactly what would happen if he didn't stop it, as anyone would. The bastards were going to charge me for phoning him and gave me, 'the we know it was you and we can trace your call shite', like you get on some murder enquiry on an Detective programme. The moral of the story is don't threaten, plan and do it.

The problem is that no-one ever thinks things through before they take action. They never think it will happen to them or, most likely, they take the view that only other people are ever at fault.
I read a book once about a system called 'equalization'. This takes eye-for-eye a stage further. It says that, for example, if you do a hit and run and the victim has to wait 45 minutes for an ambulance in agony, then you run him down and leave him squirming for 45 minutes.
Be a good one for bombers. Lock them in a blast proof room with a ticking clock on the wall waiting for the bang.
We do live in the 'won't be told no' generation see http://dioclese.blogspot.com/2010/06/no.html so I think whatever you did people would carry on just the same!

Greekers, but at least it would be anovel arroach to crime instead of letting them off with it. "I was gassed you Honour". Fucking hard luck. Think before you drink!

DL,

Yes. If you're going to do something do it without telling anyone - "what people don't know can't hurt them."
If you're going to call someone do it from a pay as you go mobile that hasn't been registered and you've phoned no one else, i.e. a brand new one.

Literally everything that we do in life can be traced somehow or other and unless you're very careful with what you do you'll get caught. There are cameras galore and ever since the com-pen-say-shun culture has come into play (thanks to the Jews..again) everyone's trying to make a quick buck because the situation's so dire finance wise in most people's lives.

I never talk about my past misdemeanors because regardless of how much you think you may trust someone, falling outs can usually bring about revenge attacks on information you've given, once in confidence.

Best rule of all DL - Trust no one but yourself and you can't go wrong. This belief is relevant far more so in today's fucked up society than in the past when people knew of honour and respect. Now they're just two words in a dictionary.

Harbingers, the compensation culture is the worst thing that ever happened to this country. When I was young and possibly you, although I would put you probably in your 40s, there was no compensation. If you were fucking stupid to stand under a ladder and a paint tin fell on you, that was your fault. People now go out of their way to get injured and sue whoever did it. It all comes down as well, to this cult of 'celebrity'. The young now don't want to work their way up a job whilst gaining experience and knowledge, they want the gaffers job right away and they think that they can go on these shite progs with that Scottish cunt, what's his name Simon Cowell and have instant fame, whilst groups in our day worked gig after gig and got record deals. I'm sure you know more about groups than me because I think that's where you worked. I bet you didn't know Cowell was Scottish, he keeps that quiet, certainly after his Bar Mitzvah. See I am doing research! But everybody wants to get rewarded instantly. I don't have any problem with the young having confidence, I had that in spades myself once although I didn't expect to be a millionaire the next day although I was hoping to be by the time I was 40.

DL,

Lol, you are doing your research aren't you? Cowell's grandparents were both Jews. His father was an executive at EMI...in fact it was impossible for Cowell to fail with his connections. He's the epitome of life today - someone who knows absolutely fuck all about music but knows all about money. He's a broken record in that the only music he likes in black R&B music, hence why he always fucks black women. And it's not sour grapes either, the cunt literally knows fuck all about music. You don't have to know anything about music in the music industry for the simple reason that bands don't have to be good musicians. All they have to do is look good, because as long as their drivel is played over and over again people will buy it - indoctrination/programming. Yes, I'm a musician and got out of the music industry to much anger and sadness from my peers. Many said I could easily have made it and I know that I could have. In fact I still could but I have no desire whatsoever of getting involved with the music industry and if you want to succeed in music you have to. There is the alternative and just becoming a wandering bard, singing politically motivated songs with lyrics record companies would never allow. I suppose I could make a living like that after becoming a freeman on the land. However, my stumbling block with music hit me like a brick. One day I woke up and said 'why?' That why was the why in "why on earth do I and others continue to write songs, many will never be heard and if they do people rarely will listen to them or learn from the message?" Countless great musicians have sung the same message over and over and it's still ignored.

Then there was also the celebrity and independence situation. I've no desire to be famous and badly enjoy my privacy. People who invade it really wish they hadn't and if I was in a situation with some cameraman constantly taking pictures of me, he'd be in intensive care with an incredibly sore rectum where emergency surgery had to be performed to remove his 'work tool.'

And yes, after my long blether above, all the great bands of old used to gig non stop all over the country to be heard. Nowadays people get to number one and no one knows them. I never watch TV nor listen to the radio and seriously couldn't tell you anything about today's musicians although that's all I did in London - run live music nights.

It's all bollox. Simon Cowell's a cunt and he's destroyed the music industry by turning half the population into Xfactor/BGT wannabees. Celebrity desperation. Oh how it fucking bores the tits off of me.

Harbingers, has it not been ever so. I remember stories of record execs running round the country, buying up records to get their particular group to number one in the charts. The music industry as far as I can see, has always been about money and less so about talent. Look at that fucker, Paul McCartney. He's only written one good song since he left the Beatles and that IMO was 'Band on the Run' and that was probably written by Linda. In fact some of the Beatles records were pure shite as well. Take Ringo Starr. More money than you can throw shite at and according to John Lennon, "he's not even the best drummer in the Beatles". Mind you being a wandering, politically motivated bard, didn't do too badly for that fuckwit, Billy Bragg. Auch fuck it, if you got any talent make as much money as you can in as short a time as possible and do a 'Greta Garbo' for the rest of your life. Living on a beach somewhere where it doesn't rain every day would do me!
