HERE'S WHAT TO TELL THEM ON MONDAY, KENNY.

"The quality of mercy is not strewn, it falleth as the gentle rain from heaven"-William Shakespeare"The Megrahi Family
Judge us by the way we treat those who have wronged us. Judge us by the way we act as a society and know that compassion has a place at the heart of justice in Scotland. Justice here is tempered with mercy.
The Politicians who protest the loudest are the ones who now embrace Gaddafi for his oil and his trade connections. If you believe that Megrahi should have died in prison, then you must also believe that Gaddafi should have remained an international pariah.
"If we demand an eye for an eye, then the whole world will become blind"-Mahatma Ghandi
Readers from the U.S. might like to research the following before they jump on the protest bandwagon:
1. The release of William Calley after 3 years of his sentence for ordering the Mai Lai massacre in Vietnam on March 16, 1968 with 504 fatalities between 1-82 years of age.
2. The medals given to the U.S. aircrew who shot down the Iranian civilian airbus with the loss of the compliment of crew and passengers including 66 children which many people thought was the rationale for the Lockerbie Massacre AND ULTIMATELY 9/11.
3. The release of convicted murdering scum on both sides in Northern Ireland after intervention from the Clinton Administration.
4. Why were so many CIA operatives and American Embassy staff pulled off the Pan-Am flight from Berlin that crashed at Lockerbie at the last minute?

Dark Lochnagar..

Fantastic post and your certainly through up a few interesting questions.

Despite what i have written on my own blog i do agree with everything you have written.

I guess im mostly looking at it from a political perspective for the SNP,s fortunes than anything else.

As i said, great post and lets hope the Scottish public share your views...

Only time will tell! Exciting times again, it's been a wee bit flat recently!

Good post DL - I think this story will die a quick death and be forgotten. Too much to lose for everybody.

It was tell what Tom Devine said on newsnight a few days back, he said that in Scotland "there is a sneaking suspicion that the majority of Scots are deeply impressed by the courage of the Scottish Government on this issue"

I agree.

We've just had a glimpse of an independent proud, just and compassionate Scotland.

Compare that to the international patsy of McConnell's "bets wee dobber country in the world" and the difference is truely striking.

I agree, Wardog. We are in a sort of pious, "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" kind of mood. I think Scots have a compassionate streak that is perhaps different from our near neighbours and those across the Atlantic. Maybe a bit of clear thinking has helped the Middle East situation by showing that we are not all bluster and shock and awe.

DL,

I'm going to tell the Director of the FBI to fuck off.

Anyway, I agree with Wardog, the Scots will rally behind their legitimate Government, we have just been noticed again on the World stage but for even more significant reasons.

Other countries admire us for our balls not our balls ups, our compassion and our commitment to do what's right not what's vindictive.

I'm proud of my Justice Secretary, god help Labour and the Liberals tomorrow.

Excellent post. Although it wasn't US aircrew who downed the Iranian airliner ( they're too busy bombing British troops ). It was a navy missile fired from the ship.

Dark Lochnagar said...

Did an aircrew not get medals for it, Anonymous?

Anonymous said...

No but Captain Rogers got the medal of honor for outstanding service though.

Dark Lochnagar said...

Are you sure that wasn't for "rogering" the Captain?

Anonymous said...

I think the Captain was hoping to Roger the cabin boy as Seaman Stains looked on jealously and young Master Bates polished his rocket.
But then they all got a shock as the famous tailgunner Gaylord Voldermot fired his wrinkly old weapon in their direction and covered them all in his slimy putrid stench.
And in the background the evil cyclopic snotgobbler Macavity of Dunfermline and shitsville humped his sidekick Spud 'o' Murphy of Septicland before slithering away into the background and returning to his secret bunker far below London. Inhabited by sleazy creatures intent on spreading fear and smear throughout this once great land.

Now Anonymous, don't hide your light under a bushel. Out yourself and tell us who you really are! You know you'll feel better for it.
